Hello again OH world, this is my story.

I had the Lapband surgery in August of 2004. I did great I lost just about 100lbs. All was fine for a couple of years. I was off of about half of my meds. I started having issues with the band and keeping getting better then worse, better then worse. Many trips to the ER and or hospital stays. I still wasn't giving up, but then it got to the point of it being out of my hands. In October of 2007 I got a kidney infection, was in a great deal of pain and was very dehydrated(sp). So finally on Halloween night about 10:30 I was rushed to emergency surgery to have the band removed. The Dr. told me that when he got in there that the band had slipped so bad that my stomach was allready turning dark. As soon as he got it off, my stomach starting pinking up. He suggested that I wait until after the 1st of the year to re-focus and decide what I wanted to do next. I felt like I had let myself, family, doctors down, even though he said that sometimes this just happens. But like most of us I felt like I was a failure. After you try diets after diets and fail at them all, then it is hard to get motivated and take the next step. After another couple of years, I decided that it was way past time for me to try something again. So I started with a new doctor and hospital (nothing at all wrong with the doctor and hospital I had before). I needed all the tests and PCP that most insurance required. So March of this year I started my 6 months of PCP visits and got all the test done and seen the surgeon. He and insurance wanted me to a certain weight before I could get the surgery. Well I had until the end of August to get there and I didn't make it. So I contacted his office to let them know that I was going to take a few months and try again after the 1st of the year. About the middle of September I got a call from the hospital and told me about a new program that was starting in October. It is a medical weight loss program and it was to help people that needed to loss 50 or less pounds. Wether it meant they just wanted to loose some weigth for whatever reason, but it would help people like my self that is struggling to get weight off before surgery. So I told them that I was very intrested in learning more about the program. I seen the doctor for the 1st time today (10/24) and was very pleased with everything that he had to say. I really feel comfortable with him and that plays a huge part in anyones weight loss journey. They also have a dietitian that will work with me and a exercise expert that will show me things I can do. I have sever lymphodema in both legs, so I have little to no mobility. I will see both of them next week and I am really looking forward to that. So that is pretty much my story. I was very involved in OH when I got the lapband, so here I am again. This is a awesome website and I met so many wonderful people last time and I hope to this time also.
