Working out

Yesterday I started working out with my son using his Bowflex machine. It was a good workout and he helped make sure I was doing the reps properly. Yesterday was upper body and today will be lower body. I am looking forward to see how I am doing in another week or two. I think these machines are very effective. We shall see...


Setting goals

I've decided that in order to stay more focused on my health sand continued weight loss, I need to use my OH page. I found the section yesterday on setting goals and have started to use it. My next goal is to get under 170. I really have given this some thought because I have been very happy with the weight loss I've acheived so far and feel pretty good about it. But I think that I should go down a couple of numbers in my BMI for optimal health benefits, so I am going for it!

Boy, it has been a while since I've been here!! I have lost 110 pounds and life has been very good. I have had such a good time this summer. I have re-discovered my love of camping and just being more active in general. I have even been able to play softball with my granddaughter! I am just amazed by my new love of doing things I haven't done in years! It has been such a good year. My surgery was Sept 12, 2006...and I just had a follow up appt with my doc who is very pleased by my weight and my lab work. 
The only problem I seem to be having is back pain...doc says I need a breast reduction. Have to look into that...

Well, I have lost 70 pounds at this point and no longer have to wear plus size clothes. I am so excited and amazed by this. I just bought some new clothes. I have even gone down a shoe size. 
I have more energy than I've had in ages. I sometimes look at myself in the mirror and I am still surprised. I still have a way to go but I am so pleased with the results so far. 
This surgery has been such a blessing to me.

Yesterday was my 2 month anniversary of my surgery. This morning I made it to 50 pounds gone!  I am feeling so much better, I can hardly believe it! I have so much more energy and just a great sense of well-being.

I am now down 44 pounds. My goal is to hit 50 pounds lost by my 2 month surgiversary. That will be Nov. 12. I am sure I can do it!

I have made my plans to keep me on track. A routine for morning and evening. If I don't plan ahead I will have a hard time keeping myself on track. I am getting better all the time. I've been taking my water, lunch and protein with me every day. This is something that I've always had trouble with in the past. 
Along with losing weight, I am getting more and more organized in all aspects of my life. I hope this isn't just a flash in the pan. LOL I am really working on keeping this going. My life is starting again and I am going to make the best of it... In every way I can!

Every day I'm getting better. Getting the protein in every day is always a challenge, but I'm getting better. Today I got myself some Viactiv Calcium chews and sublingual B-12. So now I have those supplements along with my Centrum Chewable vitamins and my protein drinks. I am getting this down. As of today I am down to 245, that's 38 pounds gone forever. My pants were almost falling off today at work. It was annoying, yet satisfying! LOL  Tonight at dinner I threw up for the first time. I think it was because I was distracted and didn't chew something enough. It wasn't a big deal and quickly passed.
If I could just be done with the back pain. I know I will conquer that too once I start doing yoga and/or stretching.

~ This week I am feeling so much stronger. I am able to stay at work all day and feel pretty good. I am very very tired when I get home, but my husband and I still go out for our evening walk. I am walking 1.5 - 2 miles daily. I am so happy that I can do that and really enjoy our walks.
My clothes are beginning to be too big on me. I am wearing a blouse today that I have to keep pulling up because it is too loose. That is a nice surprise.
I finally took some measurements today and it is 2 more days until I take a new picture. I've decided to take a picture on the 12th of each month. I will also do measurements every week, I think. Maybe once a month...not decided yet.
I'm thinking I will start scheduling "me time" in my daily plan. That will be time for the gym or yoga. I will also schedule in some pampering time as well. I need it and I deserve it.

~ Well, yesterday I completely overdid it. I went back to work and made myself way too tired and sore. I got home and took a little bit of my pain meds and went to bed. A few hours later I was feeling much better. Today I will be more sensible and more careful with myself. After all it was only 2 weeks ago that I had surgery. It really was good to get out of the house and back into my life though.
I have been walking more and more. I am over a mile now and looking to make it to 2 miles at a time. Being able to walk like this and ENJOY it has been such a joy to me. I want to be so much more active and this increase in walking has inspired me.
