I'm a 51 year old male with diabetes, high blood pressure and high colesterol. I am having RNY GBS on March 8, 2007 at Pennsylvania Hospital in Philadelphia with Dr. David Wernsing to get healthy and not be a burden on my family as I get older. I also want to enjoy my retirement when it comes and not be bed ridden or dead due to illnesses. I have been heavy since my early teens. I am a classically trained Chef who spent most of my career as a Chef and Restaurant Manager working for major corporations such as Stouffers and Hyatt. I now own an employment agency based out of Toms River, NJ and find jobs for Chefs and Restaurant Managers all over the world.

I am a bit aprehensive about this surgery because I have had several other surgeries including diverticulitus which caused me to have a perforrated colon which was resected with a temporary colostomy which was reversed, hernia surgery with mesh which was a repair to a hernia caused by the diverticulitus surgery. That surgery was a nightmare as the surgeon nicked an artery and I ended up in the hospital for a week with 6 blood tranfusions. I have also had varicose veins removed from both of my legs thanks to years of being heavy and on my feet as a chef. Hopefully all goes well and I get through this with no problems and get on the road to success.
