Hi Cheryl, First and utmost, I want to thank you for your kind and thoughtful words upon my upcoming surgery on the 18th. You know, I waited and waited like you. January came and my first consultation with Dr. Rovito and now it's just flying. After watching 20/20 tonight, it was the first time I cried with tears running down my face. Everything that woman said was me. Not the binging so much but the constant overeating and finding my safety zone in food, or making food my "make it better" when I am down. I realized that even though I am scared and nervous, it is what I want, not for vanity but for health and a healthy mind. Congratulations on your upcoming date in Sept. Please keep me posted. Thank you for your kind words and support. It sounds like we had similar problems with our insurance...I'm glad that's over with! Ugh. What a nasty fight. Anyway, good luck to you and hopefully September will be here before you know it!

Good luck to you!!! I know it seems like forever until your surgery but please take this time to get ready for it. Start drinking your water NOW!!!! Start walking and exercising NOW!!!! This will make your surgery so much easier. The more you prepare, the smoother everything will go. Lose all the weight you can before your date, do not binge and think you will stop eating after the surgery. I hope all the "surgery angels" surround you and protect you. Please check your email for a special msg from me and my husband. We BOTH had wls in 2001 and between us we have lost 270 lbs!!!

Cheryl, I am wishing you a safe, complication-free surgery and a smooth, quick recovery. I had my open RNY on 12/10/01 and can honestly say that I have NO regrets other than not having had WLS several years sooner. It is, without a doubt, the best thing I could have done for myself. God bless you as you start your healthy new life.
