I have been struggling with my weight since I was 12 years old. I have a memory of me (in the WW program) in Sixth Grade weighing out my 3 oz. of chicken that we were having for supper that night. That was the first of many unsuccessful and unsustained weight loss attempts. I am now the mother of three young children and I want to be healthy, happy and fit! I don't feel that I can perform my job duties fully as an RN with my current state. Who wants to listen to teaching about diet from a overweight nurse????
I want to win the battle!!!
I received a referral to the Regina Bariatric Assessment Program in September, 2009 and currently I am on the waitlist to get in; which will be at least another 8 months I am told. I am starting to research other options as well ie. foreign surgery.
December 9, 2010 I got my phone call 2 weeks ago. In Febuary I start my 6 months in the Regina Bariatric Assessment Program. I can't wait to get this started! I really hope that by next fall I can say I'm an RNYer!!
February 17, 2011 I just finished my 2 day initial appointment in Regina. I'm exhausted, apprehensive and excited! It is finally starting....
September 14, 2011 I have been approved for surgery. I am having an RNY in the next 2-3 months. I have lost 15 lbs. in the program and have maintained my weight loss - no easy feat for me! I have joined a ladies gym and started aquasizes to start being active so I continue after my surgery. I can't wait to be an RNYer!!!!
WOW, I finally have my surgery date!!!! November 7, 2011 I'll be on the other side...
