Hi, today is Oct. 31, 2000. My surgery date was May 23, 2000. Pre-op I was 315 and Post-op today is 234. I am losing alot of hair and still very anemic, also low protein levels. I do feel much better but still low energy. I have to admit I have tons more energy now than before surgery, so I know that this is all coming together. I am very grateful to have been able to have this surgery and that others will benefit from it as well as I am, and many others also... I love life and I'm looking forward to living again and enjoying my children and grandson and doing all the wonderful things I haven't been able to do before WLS... "OH HAPPY DAYS" God Bless and Take Care.....

Hi it's Jan. 12, 2001. I am at 102 lbs. loss now and my clothes are definatly falling off of me.. which is a great thing and trust me I'm not complaining one bit about it.. A friend of mine just came by and she could not believe her eye's.. she was here to get info about the surgery and my doctor's name and phone #. She want's to have it done. Her insurance says they will pay for the procedure. I'm so happy for her. I feel great and can't wait for my panni and breast reduction... should be in a few months from now. I would like to lose another 80 to 90 pounds that would be a good size for me since I'm only 5'1 and small boned. Still throwing up almost daily but it is slowing down, was everyday at least twice a day. Well Happy New Year to all and God Bless and Take Care.........

Hi It's August 8th 2001.... I know I should have updated sooner, sorry :o) All is going well. My sister is having surgery tomorrow in Portland Oregon with Dr. Friedman. I am very excited for her. She will feel so much better soon. I should know next week when my Tummy Tuck, Breast reduction/reconstruction, and bat wing (arms) surgery is. Should be Sept. 2001. I am down 138 lbs. now and still have around 57 lbs. to go. That will put me at 120 lbs. and I'm 5'1 and small boned. I am very nervous and excited about my next surgery. I have had so much fun this summer... we took a family trip to Shasta Lake in California in July. Three of my brother's out of five were there and one of my sister's. We had three boats and loads of fun.. I went tubing and tried water skiing for the first time in my life.... "GREAT FUN".. Well I gotta run, my sister is coming over in a bit and I wanna help her get some things she will need post op... Smile and have a GREAT DAY !!!!!

I have lot's of energy and do everything now... I just love taking my 22 month old grandson to the park and running and playing on all the toys with him... the slide is fun... he love's it... Well I will post again after my surgery. t.t.f.n. CindyJean

Hi... I know its been like a million yrs. since I updated. I am doing great in almost every area of my life... although I am having some "Late complications" from my WLS.. I have been going through a series of tests to find the problem.. so far CatScan has turned out fine and the Colonoscopy too... now i'm going in for another upper GI with small bowel follow through.. so we will see...
I am so busy most of the time that the days turn into months and the months turn into yrs. "but that is a good thing"
I have maintained my weight for the most part up 10 and now on my way back down.. I will be six yrs. post op next month on May 23, 2006. I have been doing everything since my WLS that I wanted to do pre-op. I roller skate and walk till I can walk no more... I could walk like Forest Gump walked... I Love the outdoor's and cannot get enought of it... I love the sun and there is not enough of it here in Oregon.. I love my grandson's and live for them... and my girls of course.. well till next time folks... CindyJean

I have had a great and very busy summer. Just returned from a road trip from Utah and Yellowstone National Park with my husband and Oldest daughter and her husband and our two grandson's 3 1/2 and 6 1/2 yrs old....
I am telling you I had a great time and Yellowstone is beautiful.
I had gained a lil bit of weight (15 lbs.) and I have lost it plus a few more. I have some problems eating right now my tummy bloats really bad so I chew my food and spit most of it out.. I know (gross) but I have to do that till the doc figures out whats wrong with me... I have been several times to this new doc and he has ran every test known but has come up (inconculsive) on every one of them. I have another appt. soon so hopefully he will have some answer's ... he seems rather busy and confused about what to do with me at this point... he just wants to open me up and see whats going on in there... well maybe/maybe not seems a bit scarrey to me at this point and time so I will have to see whats next in line for me. Just wanted to update on a few things here and keep you all informed (those of you who care) till next time.... enjoy the sun while its here and walk on ppl...

Surgeon Info:
Surgeon: Latham Flanagan, Jr M.D.
Hi my name is Cindy and I think that Dr. F is a great and serious doctor and he get's straight to the point of things and yes his bedside manner has to be worked on but hey no one is perfect "right". I think he is great at his desire to help us in the way he doe's. He has given us a tool to work with and has made it easy for us to manage it. I am very happy with the surgery he did on me and the professional job he has done, he is very miticulous. I think he could be a little more patient with us at times and remember this is new to us and he has went through it for year's, I thank him for the new life he has given me to challenge.... The office staff is great and they are willing to answer your questions as needed. I think that if you are planning to see Dr. F for this surgery you need to be prepared for it. Write down your questions after you read the blue book he gives you and make sure he answers all of them, he tends to get sidetracked sometimes. Be prepared to be there a while, about 3 hours is what it takes. This is a very serious choice in our lives that we have made or are about to make so listen very good. Make sure that all the risks of this surgery are laid out for you because they were not for me. I learned about most of them from this wonderful site. So ask alot of questions until you are satisfied. I did think I was going to die after my surgery and was very scared and uninformed of what was going on with me in the hospital and didn't get alot of answers, I suggust if you don't feel right after the surgery to be persistant and make sure you get immediate care and attention on this matter. I couldn't breathe very good and was very very weak and it was a big concern for me and Patrick was non informative and couldn't and wouldn't tell me what was going on with me, he got upset with me because I didn't know what was wrong with me, He wanted to send me home feeling this way and I couldn't even breathe right... as it was I came home with oxygen for 2 weeks and was in the hospital post-op for a week.. This was my personal experience and not everyone will experience what I did. I would rate Dr. F a 10 on his surgical competence, he has wonderful support groups in this area. I personally know quite a few of his former paitents that have had "WLS". I would recommend Dr. F, he is one of the best "WLS" doctor's known to mankind...
