6/29/11 - JP Drain, a Stitch & an Extra Night

Jul 23, 2011

By this day, the walking is getting better and better, although I hated getting in and out of bed.  I was supposed to go home today, but I didn't feel ready and I asked to be kept for one more night.  My oxygen was kindof low last night and so I had to have the tubes put back on my face and I had been having problems with my drain site.  It would not stop bleeding.  They decided to remove it and let me say that was the weirdest feeling ever.  It burned and kindof hurt but was real quick.  The site kept bleeding and bleeding so they decided it needed a stitch.  They told me to stay in bed until it was stitched in order to avoid aggravating it and making it bleed more.  They sent down for a suture kit.  Well if that didn't take all day...they first sent up a suture removal kit so they then had to resend for the suture kit.  It was almost evening until I got the stitch.  After that, I got out of bed.  It was nice to be able to get up.  I have been so hot in the bed and itching everywhere.  I asked my husband to bring my back scratcher for me and believe me, I used it!  It was funny...last night I slept in the chair and my mom slept in my bed.  A change of position was very welcomed and was much cooler than being in the bed...the fact that the chair was next to the air conditioner didn't hurt either.  I so was looking forward to getting the compression stockings off of my legs.  They were making me that much hotter.  Mom and I spent a lot of time watching the coverage for the Casey Anthony trial on TV.  I, of course, was in and out of sleep.  Those pain meds are good stuff!
