Getting it back together!

Feb 21, 2011

Ok, so I am finally posting my "get it back together" kick my butt in gear and get it going NEED TO DO!  Soooo, my goal is to stop eating a full protein bar whenever I need to take my medicine, especially in the middle of the night!

I have to be honest and tell you that I have been successful on the nights when I have had to take the medicine. I need to take into account the fact that I have been sick for 5 days and didn't eat anything though. So, I consider this a step in the right direction.  YEH for me

6 months out

Jun 12, 2009

Went to see Julie today and am doing really well with weight loss and blood results.  Need to get more calcium and vitamin D, but everything else came out well. I have gone from a size 30-32 to a size 18!!  Haven't worn this size since I married my husband over 28 years ago.  The support that I have gotten from my family and friends has been instrumental on keeping my spirits up and staying on the path to healthy eating.

4 Months Out

Mar 21, 2009

I am now in my fourth month after my surgery.  Am doing really well and feeling much better.  I have been lucky and not had any dumping and can eat most anything that I have tried.  My tastes have changed and I actually am eating steamed broccoli - never would have eaten it before surgery.  To date I have lost 77 pounds, now comes the hard part with the weight loss slowing down.  I continue to have the best support that a woman could ask for. The best compliment that I have gotten is from my daughter.  I was giving her a hug and she pulled away from me and she said "Oh my gosh Mom, I can put my arms around you and my hands touch!"  Needless to say, I cried and still get teary eyed when I think that she has never been able to do that before.  I continue to be aware of what and how much I eat, my life has changed and I am so thankful that I took the step towards living a more healthy life style.

5 Weeks Post Op

Jan 11, 2009

What a difference!!  Everyone has commented on how much weight I have lost.  Would like to be able to see it when I look in the mirror, but that comes in time.  My pants are WAY to big and are falling off.  Gotta love it!  Second hand stores, here I come.  My family has been incredibly supportive and patient with me.  I can't say enough to them for all the support and love that they have given me.  To my sister-in-law, Sue, THANKS THANKS THANKS.  You have helped me so much with your support and phone calls - my down days turn right side up when I talk to you.

Day of Surgery

Dec 02, 2008

Getting really nervous.  Trying to stay relaxed, reading emails and surfing OH to help calm the nerves.  Only my family and three friends from work know what I am doing during my "vacation".  Can't wait to start feeling better about myself and to begin to look like the person that is waiting inside to come out and be seen.  No more hiding behind fat jokes at my own expense.  Wow, hard to believe that I can write that last line and not feel low self esteem.  To my family - thank you for being who you are and going through this with me.  I LOVE YOU ALL SO MUCH.  xoxoxoxo
