4 Weeks postop
Jul 31, 2009
Well in my first week postop, I can remember say "What the hell have I got myself into?". I'm sure I was going thru all of the hormonal changes, etc. Since I wasn't up to full par I'm sure that had a lot to do with it as well. Now that I feel completely normal, I LOVE my band! It is great to eat and fill satisfied and not hungry all of the time.
I have finally found a new protein powder that I can live with!! Hopefully that will help me getting my protein in for the day.
I am still off work (although I could have went back 2 weeks ago). I have really enjoyed being off the whole summer with my kids. I figure I have earned the disability pay through work, so I should use it (since it was approved!). Me and kids have got to do a lot of fun things this summer that normally would not have happened! We have traveled, went on many playdates, played, and played some more!! I go back to work 2 days before my daughter goes back to school, so that's pretty good. I do have to say I haven't missed work at all! I do miss all of my co-workers and friends, but I don't miss all of the drama of the patients, doctors, etc. I has been a nice break!
I have recommitted to exercising. I have been using my Walk Away the Pounds DVD and walking 2 miles a day. It's amazing how I am sweating like a pig and the people on the DVD are smiling, talking, and not even breaking a sweat. I couldn't even imagine smiling or talking during the workout! Maybe that will my goal when I am at goal weight!.
I have 89.8lbs until goal. If I can steadily lose 2lbs a week that should put me at goal in 1 year. Let's hope and pray.

5 days postop
Jul 06, 2009
I have started my journey. I was banded on Wednesday July 1 and was discharged home on Thursday. My recovery has hit a little bit of a rocky road. I developed a hematoma at one of my lap incisions and it has been quite painful. If it wasn't for the hematoma and gas pains I would feel perfect!! Oh well, it's getting better.
I haven't been hungry since surgery until today. I keep thinking boy how I can I only eat full liquids for another week!!! I can do it! I'm sure.
I want to thank all of my family and friends that have supported me through this journey. I truly have the best husband in the world. At first, he wasn't quite sure of me getting this surgery done. He went with me to the first information seminar and I feel that really put his mind at ease. He has been wonderful in tending to our children during my recovery.
I appreciate my mom's help. She came to stay with me during the day while Robert was at work. Without her help, there is not way I could have made it through the day!
As my journey progresses I will post further.
