I have been overweight most of my life.  When I was 11 my mom went to work for an Orthopedic Surgeon and was not home anymore to make us dinner.  My dad did the best he could, but most of the time our usual dinner was Taco Bell or Yoshinoya.  I just continued this way of eating through high school.

In high school I was in band and swimming so I could easily maintain a healthy weight.  I was not skinny, but I  was not fat either.  After high school I had a physically demanding job in a high volume kitchen at Disneyland.  Again, I could eat that way because I was working so hard.  After that I got a job in Marketing and the weight started to pile on.  I went from being on my feet for 8 hours to sitting at a desk for 8 hours without changing the way I eat or exercise.

In January of 2007 I decided I had enough. I did research online and decided the Lap Band Procedure was what I needed to do to get the weight off and keep it off.  I have been seeing Dr. Liu at the OBand center for the past 4 months.  My insurance company is requiring me to have 6 months of a physician supervised diet before approving my surgery.  My next appointment is September 5th.  My tentative surgery date is October 11, 2007.  I'm just keeping my fingers crossed that the insurance will still approve.
