I haven't been on OH in awhile life has been so busy. Well I went in to see my surgeon today for my last weigh in that I thought was required for my insurance and the whole 6 month diet thing and while talking to the surgeon he said that my file was submitted to the insurance on Feb 19th (OMG I had no idea) I heard nothing else after he said that..lol As soon as I left and got to my car I pulled out my insurance card and called my medical group and they said "YOU WERE APPROVED ON FEB. 22ND" I let her know I was at the surgeons office and they didn't know that and she said that she will re fax it. So OMG I AM APPROVED...I AM IN SHOCK.....I hopefully will have a date tomorrow.

Well its been awhile since I have updated my blog and things are moving right along. I met with the surgeon on Christmas Eve and they gave me a long list of thing I needed to do, like labs work, ekg, gall bladder ultra sound, well woman appt and I have all of them done except the gall bladder ultra sound I am just waiting on the referral from my PCP. I was a little afraid of all the lab work and thought OMG something is gonna come up that will prevent me from having the surgery. I hadn't heard any news on all my labs so I called the surgeons office and they said everything came back fine. I just need to start taking vitamin D. So I started that last week and finally feel like this is all happening. I am so excited and scared at times. I am hoping to have the surgery in March or April. I still have 2 more months left in my Dr diet so once that is done they can submit to the insurance. I am so thankful for all the people I have met on here and on Thinner times who have answered all my questions and helped me thru this process. I will update more often :)

Well it has finally happened. After switching my medical group on Dec 1st and re submitting the paperwork I got the call that my surgery consultation has been APPROVED. I am so excited. I have most of my pre-op requirements done and now I have a appt with the surgeon on Dec 24th. I am so excited and nervous too. I just thought I would update and share the great news.

So my medical group denied my referral to see the surgeon. I called my medical insurance and they said I could appeal it or I can also switch medical groups if I wanted to and re submit. After finding out that my currant medical group is requiring more than my insurance I have decided to switch to Greater Tri-City and resubmit on Dec 1st when the new medical group takes effect I do have to say that Health Net has been really great and called my new medical group and they don't require anything additional than them. This is so crazy and I am only at the beginning of this journey. I guess if there wasn't bumps in the road the rainbow on the other side wouldn't be as bright. I am keeping a positive outlook and am in this for the long haul so we will see how it goes.

So I called at 245 because 3 seemed too long to wait..lol She was so nice and I really like the girl with my medical group that is helping me and basically what she said is that it is still pending. Then she put me on hold for like 10 mins which seemed like a hour and said I should have my PCP call and they can give them more info and she couldn't go into to much detail since I am just the patient. So I called my PCP and had to leave a message and then I also made a dr appt for Thursday in case I don't hear from her tomorrow and I am going to have her call while I am there...lol Oh and then the girl with my medical group said I can always call tomorrow and see if the status has changed. I just keep telling myself pending is not as bad as flat out denied. I will be making my phone calls again at 8am sharp tomorrow. The waiting is the worst part but I am in for the long haul so a few more days I can handle.

So I called my medical group today  checking on my referral and they said it is still pending but I should have an answer today by 3. OMG I have WLS on the brain now. That is all I can think about. How am I supposed to be working today when I cant stop staring at the clock. I am nervous, excited, and a little nauseous all at the same time. This somehow makes it real. I mean it was real when I went to my PCP and asked for help, and it was real when I stopped smoking, and every phone call has been real too but this seems really REAL..lol Well I will update this afternoon with the VERDICT.

So I stopped smoking 5 days ago and it is harder than I thought. Day 1 and 2 was great I felt great and had no urge to smoke. Now that some days have passed it is so hard. I keep telling myself that I want this surgery and to be healthy way more than a cigarette and that seems to be helping at the moment. One thing I am really proud of is that I haven't cheated. I always cheated on diets and when I stopped smoking in the past. Its hard but I am so determined I think this is going to be the time I really quit and that excites me. I am also journeling my weight loss journey as well as my non-smoking and that is helping alot. I hope and pray for continued strength to get thru this..

So yesterday was a very stressful day with my insurance company. I found out that the 3 surgeons that my medical group refers too use's a hospital that is not contracted with my medical insurance. So I had to call my medical insurance Health Net and see what hospitals they contract with. The guy on the phone was so nice and gave me that info along with a surgeon I could request to be referred to. Well  the name he gave me was Dr Horgan. At first I was hesitant because I went to Dr Horgans seminar last week and I didn't really care for him. My family liked him but I thought he was kinda smug and wasn't vibing with him. After pausing for a few mins on the phone I took down all the info and called my PCP. I had to speak to the referral dept since they had already submitted the referral for another surgeon to my medical group. I then had to call Dr Horgans office and get the ok to use them. The girl who answered the phone was so nice and helpful. She told me that they deal with my medical group and Health Net all the time. I also asked her about the 6 month diet and she said that my medical group has yet to ask them for that on any other approvals and I should be fine. OMG I was so excited. So I am going to give Dr Horgan a 2nd chance to make a first impression..lol I did really like his staff at the seminar and to his defense he is really educated and does alot of surgery's. So now I wait...My PCP had to resubmit the referral request and now 5-15 days I should have it. The other thing I did like about Dr Horgan and his staff was that the day you see him for your 1st consult you also see the pshyc, and nutritionist at the same appt. It is like a 4 hour Dr appt and I like that they get that all out of the way. So here I go starting again on this wonderful life changing journey....
