Barry Mann

"I met with Dr. Mann 2 times now. I found him to be really an informative doctor who is willing to sit and listen to his patient. I need to feel really comfortable with a doctor, he was able to get personal with me and eased my nervousness. I love his staff, Marcie, Marcia, and Michelle. They are really supportive, care and go out of their way to do what they can for you. The whole office works together, they run a support group in which the nutritionist, Marcie and the surgical nurse, Marcia both attend. Their dedication to WLS is evident. The only complaint I have is the waiting.... but, when you look at why you are waiting, you really can not complain at all. Because when you are the patient, you appreciate the time they spend with you. 12/1/02 I went to the WLS support group and had asked Marcia to look at my incision as I had felt there was a problem. She did not hesitate and suggested that I see Dr. Mann right away the next morning. He needed to open up the site and was able to do it without any problem. I was a nervous wreck and he was very understanding to me. I felt that they had really cared. I had to go back 2 weeks later and again, he had to re-open up the site. He numbed the area, and kept asking me about my pain, which was hardly there, just my nerves. He was fast and again very understanding to me. 3/26/04 Well I went back to see Dr. Mann for my follow up and he was really happy with my progress so far. He really takes time to talk to me and follow up on my care. You can tell he is busy but he takes the time to answer all my questions. One of the questions on this questionairre is how has my impression of him changed over time. I can answer that easily, I think he is a great surgeon, who has an outstanding "bedside" manner. The person who has him as their surgeon is the lucky one! "

Charles Long

"I was very nervous about going to a plastic surgeon. I felt like surgery should be necessary, not something I should do for cosmetic reasons, but... when I got to meet Dr. Long, I changed all my "blind" opinions. I realized that plastic surgery is definitely for me. I realized that I worked so hard to loose 100 lbs and I deserved to look my best. He explained everything to me, no rushing, no short answers. I really thought he was an excellent doctor. His office was great, I met patients in his office who had had surgeries and they opened up to me, unsolicited! I was so wrong about feeling that way. I guess it was the "Hollywood" ideas that it's only for the rich and famous, not realizing that I was deserving of this great opportunity also. He has worked on many Gastric Bypass patients and came greatly recommended to me by Dr. Mann. Thanks! 6/3/04- I had my tummytuck with Dr. Long. He was fantastic. I am so very happy with the results of my surgery. I am 2 weeks post op and recovering well. I will start to think about a breast lift when I recover from this surgery and Dr. Long will definitely be my surgeon! 9/1/04 I had my breast reduction & mastopexy! It's been almost 2 weeks, today is 9/14/04. I am doing well. I can't wait to see the full results once my swelling goes down. I don't go back to the doctor for 2 months. I went 4 days ago and had 4 stitches removed, everything else was stitched inside and no visible ones outside. Dr. Long and his staff are so supportive, and caring. They really helped me get through this because I am the type of person who gets very nervous w/ needles and such, they were delicate and made me feel really comfortable through out this. They are great! "

"I have seen Marcie at every visit with Dr. Mann. She is very caring, and explains everything to me. She gave me her beeper number and I had to call her one time, she returned my call within 10 minutes. She and Marcia, the nurse, both attend the monthly weight loss support group and are available for any questions we may have. She is sincere and easy to talk with. "
