coming up on a year...

Oct 05, 2009

I can't believe it's almost been a year since my RNY!  It's so hard to believe, but what an incredible journey!  No longer do I need insulin or any other diabetes medication for that matter.  My blood pressure is awesome and my cholesterol is lower than it has been in many years!  I've also accomplished something that I never thought I would even try, and that's not only one but two half-marathons!  Running has been my outlet, and what an awesome outlet it is, burns alot of calories and good cardiovascular exercise.  I have finally been proud of my body, and not be ashamed to be seen out in public.

4 months post-op and going strong!

Mar 15, 2009

It's been a little over 4 months now since my RNY, and I am doing things I haven't done in over 18 years!  Now I am training for a half marathon in May 2009....who would have thought that I would be attempting something like that!  I am doing my best at following the rules and exercising nearly every day...life has now become an adventure instead of a chore.  I feel like life has finally begun for me!  Thank you Dr. Pupkova for being patient with me and giving me a jump start on a brand new life!  I am eternally grateful!

3 months post-op....

Feb 04, 2009

Here I am. Three months post-op and feeling great!  I have now made a habit of getting to the gym before work EVERY day (which by the way is a great habit to start).  I am enjoying cooking new and exciting things for myself and passing on the recipes to my parents and their friends.  I am more than pleased with my weight loss so far as well as getting rid of alot of medications like insulin, 3 blood pressure medicines and 3 cholesterol medicines!  It overjoys me to know how much healthier I am becoming through this journey.  I can actually do 3 miles on the treadmill with a 10% incline without hardly breaking a sweat or heavy breathing!  I am so grateful to Dr. Pupkova and Barix for patiently guiding me through the long process of getting approved for the surgery!  This has completely given me a new outlook on life!

Back to Work....

Jan 02, 2009

I am finally back to work and it is the start of the New Year.....what a wonderful journey so far since my RNY.  It is a challenge getting up earlier to go to the gym before going to work, but once I get there it is well worth the effort.  It is amazing the transformation your body takes as you lose the weight, and the compliments are sometimes overwhelming (but greatly appreciated)!  I haven't felt so good about myself in quite a long time, and this only just the beginning!

I finally had my surgery and am at home!

Nov 3rd was the day!  The day that I have been waiting for such a long time.  I had such a good experience at the Barix Clinics.  Everyone was caring and wonderful and very supportive and encouraging!

I have been waiting for my insurance to approve me for over a year and a half. I was finally approved and scheduled for surgery, but then my blood sugars in the morning were too high.  After manipulating some of my insulin and eating very few carbs, I have my blood sugars under control!  Just waiting to hear if I can get put back on the schedule for surgery again!  Such a long road to travel, but I am hopeful that it is worth the trip!
