I'm a 55 year old female who is status post Lap Band procedure February 6, 2006 who did well for a while. My heaviest weight was 234, surgery date weight was 216, now weight about 195. I did go down to 180 at one time, however, it slowly crept up. The problem that I was having was that I could not eat solid foods...I always had a "Stuck" feeling in my throat when I ate, the only thing that went down well were "sliders" mashed potatoes, puddings, jello, ice cream, you know, mushy stuff...and that was not good in the long run.
I went to my physician over a year ago and asked for a revision, he wanted me to wait and see how things were in 6 months. Well, I waited a year and went back at which time, he was doing another fill and realized that there was quite a bit of reflux, so he agreed to do the revision. My research led me to go with the Gastric Sleeve procedure. I was informed that the results would be about the same as the Gastric Bypass and since I had already had the Lap Band procedure, I would not loose 100% anyway which I am okay with because I am wanting to loose at least 50 lbs.
In the light of it all, I am looking for a new beginning, I am hoping for final success to my weight issues. I understand that 195 to some is not much so some but to me, with my height (5'1) and my co-morbidities such as sleep apnea, arthritic pains, etc. it is in my interest that I move forward with this procedure.
