I have already had my surgery but thought I should give some info about how I got here and who I am....

I have been overweight, fat dang it, for most of my life.  My parents had the old time stomach staple procedure in the 80's I think.  They never really were "normal" weight.  Mom tried to make sure us kids knew that we would be big if we didn't watch it.  Well duh, she fed us crap, not her fault, she did what she knew.  My sister is about 10 pounds heavy and I am 150 pounds too much.  Weird but true.  My brother died a few years ago of a heart attack at 36.  I then decided to check out WLS.  I went to a few docs in town and felt scared to say the least.  I thought about the lapband but since I had so much to lose I wanted a bypass.  A few months ago I met a girl that had a lapband and she lost like 130 pounds or more.  She really took the time to answer my questions and understood my struggle.  She gave me her cell number and told me that if I ever needed anything to call her.  I figured she helped me enough and put her number on my desk at work.  For several weeks I thought about her and all that she said.  I was blown away by her caring nature.  I finally called her in June.  Funny thing was she was now working at docs office.  She told me to come in for a consult and told me that they take my insurance. Jen really is my angel!! I meet Dr Schlesinger and he told me about all the surgery types and actullay thought the DS would be best for me.  Jen had mentioned it as an option and asked me to keep an open mind.
Well fast forward to today....  I am over 3 weeks out and feeling awesome.  Dr Schlesinger and Jen have been heaven sent.  The insurance approval went fast, I have BCBS and they approved me in 3 days!
The hospital was, well a hospital, no complaints. I didn't eat any food and my pain was well controlled.
I am so thrilled to be on my way to feeling good, even feeling good about myself!
