2 week follow up

May 28, 2012

Tomorrow is my two week follow up.  I have lost 10lbs as of today.  Hoping that is sufficient, not sure what they expect but will soon find out.  Doing ok getting liquids in, not as well on protein.  Hope to do better this next two weeks.  Preparing food for the others doesn't really seem to bother me at this point, I don't crave anything and I'm not hungry.  Incisions seem to be healing well, return to work on Thursday.  I have enjoyed this time off with my baby, I hope she has as well.  Other than some n/v the day after surgery this has been a piece of cake.  Dr. Alley thought perhaps too much pain medication in my system, I tend to agree since Im not a pill person to begin with.  The nurses were great, kinda miss them.  I guess for now I will continue to do the happy dance!!

Just me

May 05, 2012

I am 37 years old, married with four children.  As a child I was "chunky" however I did grown out of it and trimmed right up about 9th grade.  After high school I worked in customer service and feel into my first relationship, we had two children in a three year relationship.  It was abusive but I was able to get away and start raising my children peacefully at home near my parents.  After my oldest daughter was born I went to Nursing school, she was 6 months old.  From that time on I gained large amounts of weight as we sat in seminar after seminar with little time for activity.  Upon graduating I was at 160 and at my lowest I had been 136.  I went to work night shift and my parent helped me with my babies, so thankful for that help.  I started with a local states psychiatric hospital in 2002 and there on my first day meet my future husband.  I was still around 160, not overly over weight but the potential was there with the amount and shifts I worked.  After dating for about 10 months my husband, children and I moved in together and I got pregnant for my third child.  During my pregnancy I gained about 50 pounds, which I absolutely dreaded.  I knew I had a hard time losing weight and I was going to ultimately struggle with this.  I did, I stayed at 210.  Ran into a bout of post partum depression and thyroid issues, I slept my days away getting up only to feed my son and daughter and then get the oldest off the bus.  I would then cook dinner and go to bed.  Once the thyroid issue was straightened out, I finally got a little energy.  I didn't lose any weight and remained at 210.  We then moved from our home area to the York PA area.  I was great down there but hard on us with no help or grandparents around.  In January of 2006 I found out I was pregnant with #4.  I was starting my pregnancy at 210 and no happy.  I was a horrible first trimester, I was working night shift.  Every time I would lie down to take a nap I would wake up with morning sickness, the hard part was I had little control over my bladder so every time I would get sick I would leak.  Very hard to work that way.  We decided that we needed to come home, three were hard with out family help, four was going to be worse.  We came home in June,  I was 5 months pregnant and about 230.  I finally had my daughter in October and my hospital weight was around 245.  After my pregnancy and with breast feeding  I did drop some baby weight and got down to under 200, it didn't last long.  I found a job as a nursing supervisor on Night shift and there began the weight gain again.  It hard to maintain any type of life with four kids and a job on night shift.  I finally managed to get on day shift and started going to the gym with my girlfriend.  After about 5 months of working out I went from 220 to 200, I was starting to feel great.  Then my girlfriend bailed on me, she couldn't go to they gym anymore and I didn't want to go alone.  I did for a while but it wasn't nearly as fun.  Well slowly as you may have guessed my weight slowly returned, pound by pound and I have reached my highest ever at 248.  I had contemplated GB for many years.  I watch my youngest son who is somewhat chunky and decided that in order to help him and help myself that I needed to regain my health weight and self.  I hope that my husband and four children with appreciate the sacrifice and journey that comes from this.  I am preparing myself now with my two week full liquid diet.  I am looking forward to regaining myself and a healthier me for my family.  I can not wait to return to the gym and have found a new work out partner.  Life is looking up and I will keep my efforts posted.
