I don't know how this happened, but my original posts have disappeared.  I'm sad about that, but I'll survive.  Sometimes when you get to look back at your earlier posts, you can see how far you've come.  Anyway, I am a Type I diabetic on an insulin pump.  I've had diabetes for 36 years.  It is pretty rare to find a Type I who has a weight problem...most Type I's have trouble gaining weight.  Not me!  I was "blessed" with Type II tendancies (insulin resistance).  My blood sugars had not been under great control before I started my WL journey in October 2007.  I am now about 20 lbs lighter than when I started.  I took the classes, including 6 mths of nutritional counseling and have had all of my clearances.  My lapband surgery is scheduled for this Monday, April 7th.  This surgery will not make me non-diabetic, but it will bring me to the road to lose the excess weight and thus get better control of my diabetes.  I will also require less insulin & may reduce the severity of my co-morbidities.
