Dale was diagnosed as diabetic in 2005 and he hopes WLS will help him decrease his insulin dependence (YEAH - No insulin since surgery - DONE with RNY). He plans to talk to the PCP and surgeon and find out what his best option is (Lapband 17% cure, RNY 83%, DS 98% but REALLY drastic). His BMI is 36 and the research isn't real clear. Once I started looking into it I saw, in various profiles, where I could be in a year and it has convinced me to do this for myself.
I have been stubborn - Even though my mom has had great success with her WLS (7 yr post-op) there have been some unexpected consequences (unpredictable dumping and transfer to alcohol). Despite that, she would do it again tomorrow. I've been convinced that if I just work hard enough, want it enough I can get my weight where I want it. I just don't have another attempt and failure in me. The idea of having this tool is exciting and now I can't wait.
