This is all new to me so if I make alot of distakes just bare with me.
I am 51 years old, live alone, an I am semi-paraplegic. I had my surgery over 3 years ago and love in every minute of my life now. I was 42 when I became paraplegic and with all my weight I wasn't able to do much. Since my surgery I do all my personel stuff, clean my house, cook, laundry, and drive myself where I need to go. No more care givers! I f you ever been around disable people then you know what I mean about care givers or not being able to do thing for yourself.
I am a mother of 2 children, Angie is 27 and Mike is 25. I also am a grandma, Sierra is 8 and Luke is 2. My family is my life but God is first. I thank him all the time for directing me to Dr Hornbostel so I could have this surgery and it has turn out wonderful for me. Doing so many more actives with my family has been a big change in my life also.
The first 5 years of my disable life I didn't drive or go any where except to the doc, thearpy and church. Now I never stay home because I had to take my drivers test at the age of 47 and I have my own car now. Before my children took me every where.
I am a volunteer at a thrift store 3 afternoon a week. I also go to what they call job club once a week because I would love to go to work part time. I have so much more energy now since I have lost so much weight. I can walk with a walkerand I do alot of water aerobics. That the best exercise for me. I go to church every Sunday, my church family has been help threw all this. They was my support group because I live too far away from where I had surgery to go to any of the meetings. So I had alot of prayes said for me, alot of long talks and hugs.
I'm not sorry one bit for having the surgery only thing I should of had it first then maybe I wouldn't be in a wheelchair now. Because my weight was my number one reason I am in the conition I'm in now.
