Here is my story. I started getting heavy when I was around 6 years old and it just kept getting worse. When I was in high school I played football and under the layers of fat was in good shape I could run as fast as the other lineman. Then after High School it was like evrything else there was college and the weihgt kept coming on and the lack of excerise kept increasing there were multiple attempts at loosing weight. but none were successful.
I got married and then 13 years ago the begining of the fall started I was diagnosed with Diabetes and after that I just could never get it under control. even know I am a paramedic and saw people who didn't take care of them selves, wiht all of the medical problems they had I still couldn't get everytihg under control. After the Diabetes, came the elevated cholesterol and then the hypertension. none of them reall wer under control.
Even when the doctor look me inthe eye and told me I had to get these things unser control if I wante to see my kids grow up nothing would work. She then said I should consider gastric bypass something I had been totally against. I thought well I will go through all of the tests and stuff and then decide against it. I figured it would keep her off of my back for about a year. Well the more i went through the stuff the more I decided that it may be the way to go.
Everything had to get a rush put on it because my insureance was stopping paying for it, So I eneded up going through the year long program in about 5 months.
Everythng was so quick that I say the last doctor for and evaluation on Wednesday, he sent the paperwork that day I had pre op on Friday, and on Monday I was approved and had the surgery on Tuesday. The day after my fathers birthday and 9 days before my 43rd birthday.
I am now down from 308lbs to 219 lbs I am running and riding bike and doing things I did in High School. When I was young fat and inshape I am now below my weight my senior year in High School and I am wearing pants that are the same size as I wore in 8th grade.
That is pretty much my story.
