I was always a fat child, and now that I have grown up, I am a fat woman. This I am ok with, but the prejudice and discrimination of being fat has finally gotten to me. When I was over 400 lbs, I decided to look into bariatric surgery. After about a year of going back and forth with my hospital and insurance, I finally had the surgery done in Jan 2015. I am still fat, but a smaller fat and the bonuses are beginning to show. People treat me better than they used to, I get more tips at work, I can fit into cheaper and better looking clothes, and I can sit comfortably in any chair that I choose.

The surgery itself was a gastric sleeve, despite the doctors wanting to do a bypass. I decided to do the sleeve because I still wanted to have my stomach, and also because I didn't want to risk the side effects that the bypass has. As I write this, it has been 4 months since I was under the knife and I have lost 85 lbs. I am hoping to continue with my weight loss and be under 250 lbs by Jan 2016.
