Im Back!
Jan 15, 2007
Hello,
My name is Ashley, I had gastric bypass surgery on March 21, 2006. I am 19 years old and love my new life.
I began my journey weighing 263 lbs, by far my heaviest weight. I was very unahppy and felt unhealthy. Could barely fit in the collge desks, looked absolutely terrible in everything I wore, and was extremely unhappy! My world was everything that i hoped it would never turn out to be.
I have always been very active. There has never been a time when I havent played a sport, it started with soccer when I was little, then to softball, volleyball, and eventually to water polo and swimming, which i still do. I play water polo for Modesto Jr. College, and love it. Although I stayed active I never obtained the ability to loose wieght. I tried tons of diets, weight pills, anti-depressants, you name it I tried it. And yes, I am only 19. I have just been very unhappy my whole life. When i was little my dad would get upset at how much I ate and say, "if you dont stop eating that way, you will be 300lbs one day".... well before I knew it, i was well on my way.
I couldnt do it, no way could I live my life knowing that what my dad warned me about would acutally come true. I wouldnt have it. I began researching about the surgery after hearing about it from several different people. I went to my doctor, got approval, and 3 months after I began my journey i was in the surgery room, changing my life.
It was the hardest thing i have ever done, and I thank God everyday for the second chance he gave me. That is how I see the surgery, as a second chance to life, from God.
I loved my life, I love how everything is going. For the first time, I feel happy, and accepted! :)
