Food

Hi
It will surprise you to hear that I like food. I like to cook it, share it, and eat it. The last two years have constituted a change in my love affair with food. I would like to share with you that journey. I am not sure you would be interested in that journey, but I will try and make the telling of it interesting.
It all started about two years ago when I made a friend. This friend has a nice figure, and she enjoys food. But I noticed something about the way she ate. When we went to a restaurant, she only ate about half of what she was served. She also liked salad and preferred fruit for dessert. These choices did not seem to be a matter of discipline, but genuine preference. I envied the way she eat and wished I could do the same as effortlessly.
It will not surprise any of you on this site to hear that she was five years out from her RNY surgery. When I found this out, I began to pumper her for information. I was especially impressed that she really did enjoy food, she preferred smaller portions and more healthful choices.
She had the same relationship with food that I had hoped to achieve. To be able to effortlessly (or at least apparently effortlessly) limit portion size and still enjoy food seemed like a perfect set up.
So after multiple discussions with her about the pluses and minuses I decided to have weight loss surgery. I first discussed the possibility of surgery with my primary care physician in February of 2009 and finally had my surgery on April 6, 2009.
