Where has the time gone?

May 02, 2016

Well it's been 13 years since my Open RNY procedure, and while I lost a person, I never got below 320lbs.  Now from 474lbs, day of surgery this was still a huge loss, but over the years I have been gaining it back in part due to my inactive thyroid but also I have learned I am fighting against my own body which is depressing, because want it, but I also have never gotten to a weight where I could excersise much.  In fact I desparately needed a tummy tuck to remove all the excess skin that was still in the way, but ofcourse that was not covered. :-(

Anyway all of that asside I was also divorced in 2009 and quickly became a single parent of three kids, and the sole supporter of them.  This did not help, but in the end all are excuses and today I am trying to get things re-stated.  Last time I was weighed in 2015 I was 360lbs, and I have found myself again trying all of the failed diets of the past hoping maybe one would work with my WLS System, but no luck.   I even tried gluten free and my nutritionist swore I could loose 40lbs easy in a month, and I actually gained.  I then happened across a book by Frank Suarez "The Power of your metabolism"  while I have not yet read it cover to cover, the Lightbulb has already turned on, and I see myself in this..

The Crazy part is that as I lost the weight, the fat cells all shifted down below my waste and to the front, so my porch is larger than ever and gets in the way of my legs which is uncomfortable, but then as I gained some of the weight back it just got bigger and did not move.  I am not more determined than ever to try and get this revision done, and make sure that I get the right support for post surgery.  I did not have that the first time and it was a big mistake.  while today I eat less than an average person, I know I could have done better..

I had been considering a revision back about 10 years ago, but my insurance would not cover it.  Now I hear things have gotten a bit easier and while I am going to wait for another couple of months as I am about to move to North Carolina, but I have a friend there who has already hooked me up with his doctor and I am going to schedule a consult with him for right after my move to get things moving.

Well I have not been on the site but a couple of times over the years, but felt like It was time to lay it out there and get this started.
