I've been fighting with my weight for nearly 20 years. I've lost and regained hundreds of pounds, I've cut myself off from family and friends and I've sacrificed promotions at work in this struggle. I've tried to get insurance to cover WLS for me for 4 years, to no avail.
Finally, enough was enough. After making the decision to self-pay, I found a wonderful surgeon and support practice and I am moving forward with lap-band surgery.
I am scheduled for Lap-Band surgery 11/3/2008 and begin my pre-op diet 10/3/2008. I need to lose 40 pounds before surgery at the request of my surgeon.
