Denial - yep!!!
Sep 24, 2007
I have figured out I have been in denial for a looooong time about my weight. The last few weeks have been a reality check for me. Kind of upsetting and not-so-upsetting at the same time.
I saw a surgeon here but since I am self-pay decided to go to Mexico to Dr. Alvarez. Had everything all set for 12/04/07. Then the surgeon here calls me and asks what it would take to do surgery here -- I told him and now am going to have VSG here. At first I wanted the LapBand but the more I read and studied it the less I liked it. Do not want a bypass because, like most VSG'ers blogs I have read, I don't want my intestines moved around. The only other choice was VSG.
Now I have to go see a nutritionist and psychologist, along with having an upper endoscopy to check out the stomach before-hand, and last but not least, a colonoscopy because I am over the great age of 50. Blech! Add in a vacation the middle of October and I have no clue when I will get my sleeve now. Oh well - one step at a time. Appt with NUT on Sunday and Psych on October 1. Hubby and I go to see Dr. Heider this Thursday for more discussions. At least my journey is still moving along...and I have lost six pounds since first discussing this with my PCP a month ago -- woohoo!!
