Surgery 5/17/06 at Good Sam Med Center. Staff on nights, nurse Amy was wonderful. I had to keep reminding day staff to wash hands and I ended up with MRSA in 7 days after leaving hospital. 5/19/06 Home from hospital with liquid Lortab. This caused hallucinations. Home on Synthroid, singular, Tums and chewable Multivitamin. 6/17/06 Lots of vomiting and diarrhea. Finally figured out to put protien drink 1st thing in morning (I tolerated Isopure the best. Mango Peach/Alpine Punch and Passion Fruit are great) and this helps along with a nibble of Ginger chew from Trader Joe (by the ginger people). This does have some sugar but I used such a small amt that it was ok for me. (could cause dumping for some). 8/26/06 Have lost 65 lb. in 12 weeks. Feel great and ALL of my sx have resided. No GERD/IBS/knee and hip pain/ DM (A1c is 5.4). Naturalpath is able to provide Great natural suppliments that are easy to take (drop form). I have been walking for exercise in the malls and parking in the distant lots I shop to get in my exercise.

11/24/05 Barbara Maxwell office assistant misrepresented Barbara Maxwell as The psychologist for BCBSMA in fact there are well over 12 for BCBS. They also cancelled my Follow up appt and did not notify me until I called to reschedule testing stating that as I did not confirm my first date(11/14) to take testing. (they left a msg on a phone that was stolen vs home number or work number). Her staff also insist that "No other Dr other than the Bridge physicians via St Lukes in Phx. offer ANY support groups or longterm follow-up after surgery." WRONG! WRONG! WRONG! She really makes the whole bunch sound as if they have not checked out their competition and hopefully she is not their group spokesperson. Dr Simon and Dr. Newhoff of Arizona Bariatric Surgeons plainly state in their initial group mtg and in the literature they send out that "Because we strongly believe in the importance of long term follow-up and want to encourage our participants, Dr Newhoff and Dr.Simon have made it a policy to NOT charge for routine follow-up postoperative care. There is no limit on this policy." "Yearly after the 2nd year on a long-term basis". I also noticed that most of Barbara Maxwell testing is set to make you look as if you are Bipolar not unusual as that is her field of research interest. 12/7/05 Group mtg with Dr. Newhoff and Dr. Simon group. Dr Simon untimely late dure to surgery and Dr Newhoff finished seeing his pt. then graciously took over group mtg. Very well verse and not afraid to discuss the amt of "cases gone bad and why they occured". His office staff is very over whelmed temporarily but have a good attutude about it all. 2 of the office staff are actually prior (open) pt. so you get a pt . perspective of recovery and life after the surgery. 12/08/05 Took 3 volumes for wt loss attempts to surgeons office. That should work in my behalf for insurance auth. purposes. Can't say I didn't try. I had decided on lap pracedure until I reviewed my own health records and decided I want the surgeon to get a good look inside and fix any other problems this old girl may have. (sort of like going with the surgeon that has a prosthetic eye if you know what I mean.) 12/11/05 F/u with psychologist on 12/13/05 and date with Surgeon 1/3/06 to discuss surgery 1 on 1.

11/21/05 I have an appt with the Psychologist Dr. Maxwell for Wed 11/23/05 for testing and 11/29/05 to speak with her directly. I am leaning towards having Dr. Simon for a surgeon but want to check him out a little further. I have read many reviews and would welcome any assist anyone has to offer.
