Volunteering At My Surgeon's Informational Seminar

Jun 25, 2012

I am volunteering at my surgeon's informational seminar tonight. Surprisingly, I'm pretty excited about it. I pulled out some jeans that I saved. Prior to my surgery, I couldn't fit into them any more. Now they are huge on me! It is difficult to believe how big I was. I am looking forward to showing off a little bit.

Also, since I got back on the band wagon, I have started losing weight again. Five pounds!

I feel great and am really happy about this. It makes it much easier to keep on the diet. I can't wait to get of more weight. I think I will have to break down and buy new underpants after the next 5 pounds. Tee Hee Hee.

On The Band Wagon Again :)

Jun 19, 2012

I have been working on getting on the band wagon again. I pretty much fell off of it last Christmas, when I was visiting family. Basically, since then and until the last few weeks, I wasn't really following my diet or exercising much. I wish I had been doing the things that I was supposed to do. I probably would have lost a lot of weight by now. But oh well. No use crying over spilt milk.
Now I am getting back into the swing of things by doing the following:
1. Focusing on high protein with low fat. including using protein shakes again and weighing food.
2. Reducing carbs (no more toast, except on special occasions).
3. Using OH as a support tool, to keep my weight loss/diet front and center.
4. Weigh myself frequently (to keep reminding myself about my goal of losing more weight).
5. Tracking my food and exercise on my iphone.
6. Heavy gardening, including digging holes, toteing bags of dirt and mulch, mowing the yard with a real mower (no motor).

This getting on the band wagon seems to be a bit of a process for me. As I go along, I seem to be picking up steam and doing more and more. Here are some more things that I am trying to get into my schedule, and would like to make a habit.
7. Walk the dog.
8. Go to bed on time, so that I can get up in the morning and walk the dog before I go to work.
9. Regular (hopefully daily) sessions of stretching, arm exercise with hand weights, abdominal exercises.
10. Work out videos.

Well, that's it for now. I guess my basic strategy is to do things that will keep my focus on my process of losing weight and being healthy. I realized a while ago that I have to put this process first in my life. That means before my family and work. That is kind of a new and strange thing for me. But, that is what I had to do while I was recuperating from my VSG, and it worked really well. So, that is what I have to do now. As I am going along, it is getting easier and I am starting to have that excited and enthusiastic feeling again. I hope I start getting a few more pounds off soon.

I wish you all peace and good health.
