2 months post-op

Jun 24, 2009

Well it's been 2 months!  Time flies.  Doing ok with the eating, much better with my protein.  Still working on getting in enough H20.

Borrowed my sister's Wii and bought the Wii Fit and I love it!  I forgot that at one point in my life I used to like physical activity.  I just really hope that I can keep it up!

The weights coming off slowly, but I can live with that!  At least it's coming off!

1 1/2 weeks post op...

May 03, 2009

Well it's done.  My stomach's rerouted!  Having a rough time of it though.  It's very very hard not to get all depressed about the lack of food in my life right now (Boy typing that sentence makes me think how absurd it sounds).  Still on full liquids for another week and a half.  Menu consists of shakes (barf), soup, sugar free Popsicles and fudgecicles, yogurt and jello.  Blah, Blah!

The surgery itself didn't seem too bad, but to tell you the truth, I was not prepared for the pain after wards to be so intense.  I thought that it would be comparable to the pain with my c sections and gall bladder removal - NO IT WAS NOT!  Feeling relatively ok now as far as pain goes, just a little pull here and there.

At this point I'm struggling to get my protein and H20 in, but it gets better everyday.  I still think "WTF did I do to myself" every once in a while, but not as much as the first week out of surgery.

Everyday is a little better.

I have a date!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Jan 27, 2009

I finally have a surgery date.  I just spoke with Janessa and I have my PATs on April 7 at 7:30 am and my surgery is scheduled for April 21!  I can't believe this is finally going to happen!  I'm having my gallbladder removed this Monday, Feb 2 laproscopically because of the gallstones.  Here we go...

Numerous Gallstones...

Jan 04, 2009

Crap, crap, crappity, crap!  It turns out that I need to have my gall bladder removed because of the presence of "numerous" gallstones.  Not a few, or a couple, but "numerous".  My GP says that I should have my gall bladder removed ASAP.  I have an appointment to see a surgeon this Thursday to get his/her opinion.  I spoke with someone at Dr Schram's office and I guess he may be able to remove my gallbladder during the RNY procedure but this would require me to have an "Open" surgery for my RNY instead of a "Laproscopic" one.   I don't know if I want to have an "open" procedure....

I'm still waiting for the results of my second sleep study so I can get the ball rolling on purchasing a CPAP machine.  So the long and short of it is that I still don't have a surgery date for my RNY.  Since I was approved by ohip in November, I only have until May to get my surgery done or I will have to go through the approval process again and it sounds like fewer and fewer people are getting approved with each passing day.  Keeping my fingers crossed!

Severe Obstructive Sleep Apnea...

Dec 16, 2008

After a completely horrible sleep during my sleep study, I have been diagnosed with Severe Obstructive Sleep Apnea.  Have to go and do another sleep study, but this time with a CPAP.  This study will be on Dec 21.  So...still no surgery date.

Still Waiting....

Nov 25, 2008

Had my consult with Dr Schram at Barix on Sept 23.  Got approved for the Roux En Y by OHIP on Nov 4.  Called Dr Schram to get my surgery date but it turns out that I can't book my surgery until I've completed the study and obtained the CPAP if I need one.   My sleep study is scheduled for Dec 9.  I'm trying to be patient!  I sooooo want to get this show on the road!
