This is Rick's wife. I wanted to let you know that he had his surgery this morning, he was in for about 2 hours and they took his galbladder too. He was out of surgery at around 9:30 and was up and walking at 1:30. He said he felt like he had been kicked in the stomach by a horse. Other than that he said he felt good. He has a new best friend (the demeral pump). Will let you know more tomorrow. Becky

Butterflys are a great symbol of WLS patients. Like the caterpillar, we move slowly. We are not particularly attractive - and most of us are a bit round. Soon, we enter the cocoon stage, where we hide from everyone and everything, and EAT and SLEEP. Then, when the time is right, we emerge from the cocoon, spread our wings, and when they are dry, we fly off, seeking summer flowers. I love the analogy, and can't think of a thing that is better. So, first the butterflies in your stomach, and in your thoughts - pretty soon, you will have them in your heart, and you will be so proud of yourself, and feeling darn good, too!" Best of luck. Don't forget to wiggle your new wings. :) May God Bless You and Yours. ~ Michelle Lap RNY 10/06/03

Rick, reading your profile was wonderful. I love reading about everyone's journey to the losing side and feel so good for them once they have their date set to cross over that line. I am praying for you and your surgical team now and will be especially praying for you on "THE DAY" as you put it. God Bless and Good Luck!! {Hugs} :) Donna Ford
