I have a date!

Dec 16, 2008

Okay, so I am really far behind on this blogging thing!  But, I have a date.  It has actually been moved up to January 19th!!  I am looking so forward to it!  Just looking to lose the last few pounds that I need before my final weigh in on January 14th.  I'm planning on starting my 'hell week' a week or so earlier--probably on January 4th of 5th.  That should help to get the last few pounds off that I may have.  So far that has been going okay though.  Anyhow...when I have more exciting news pop up...I will try my best to keep this updated!

First Surgical Consult

Oct 02, 2008

Well, I attended my first surgical consult yesterday.  Things went pretty well.  The surgeon was really great and informative.  I have to lose 14 pounds by the time of my 2nd consult and maintain it until the date of surgery which should be some time in January.  Both the surgeon and the insurance person seem to think this is going to be a pretty straight-forward case which makes me pretty happy!  I was a little bummed to hear my surgeon was booked up through the end of the year....but thats okay.  I have waited this long...whats another few months?  Its a great way to start the new year though--with a new lease on life!!

Small update

Well, I attended orientation this past Tuesday.  It was really encouraging and I am very excited about it.  I have made my lab appointment, psych exam, and first surgical consult.  October 1st is the first meeting with the surgeon.  Can't wait!!  Now, its time to play a small waiting game until the upcoming appointments.

Good Beginnings

I am in the early stages of WLS and am so excited about it.  I have battled with my weight since childhood and was extatic when the possiblity of WLS came about.

i have been seeing my doctor since January every month.  Preparing myself for the "hoops" of approval from the insurance company.  At my July appointment, my doctor and I decided to make the transition to preparing to WLS.  I contacted HFH the following day and set up my orientation appointment, which is in September.

Yesterday, I made a few more phone calls and received some really great news.  I found out that through my company, I qualify for short-term disability while recovering from the surgery.  The first 30 days are paid at 100% of my salary!  That was a big weight off my shoulders. I'm a single woman with a mortgage and two furbabies to feed!  Then some more great news came about when I called my insurance company.  My coverage includes WLS and they are sending me the info in the mail about what needs to be done to qualify for it.

So far so good on this road to living a great life.  I'm sure there are going to be a few bumps in the road, but I'm not going to let anything stop me from getting this surgery done!
