I am a 32-year-old female and I have been overweight since I was a child. I currently weigh 290lbs.

I have travelled through many mythical lands of weight loss such as Weight Watchers (7x), Atkins (4x), Jenny Craig (1x- this was way too expensive). In addition, I have tried a plethora of other diet schemes such as diet pills to surpressess the appitite, diet pills to bind carbs, diet pills to bind fats, diet pills to speed up the metabolism, tec. As well, I have tried the obiligtory 3 day diet (this one works until day 4 when you put back on all the weight you lost plus 2-3 pounds for good measure -- no pun intended). I have tried the cabbage soup diet; however, I nearly killed the rest of my family due to my gas (I got use to it because I eventually stopped running from the smell). I have tried the "eating for your body type" diet as well (I think this one failed becaue at my weight, who can really determine what their body shape really is?) Ugg!

A part of me wishes that all of the confusing messages we are bombarded with, (such as eat carbs/don't eat carbs, don't eat fats/eat some fats), could be straightend out as I am constantly falling prey for those 30 minute info-commercials showing people just my size that have lost so much weight they are now wearing a size 4. HUM BUGG!!

So here I am at the start of my weight loss journey -- again.

I hope that this will work. I hope I will succed. I hope there wont be complications. I hope this will be the last time I start a new chapter in my life regarding my weight. My surgery is scheduled for the end of June 2007. My mantra until then will be I think I can... I think I can ... I think I can!
