Hi!
I had no idea that the page had changed so much. I promised myself that I would update regularly, however, as many I have failed short. Well, let's see if I can catch everyone up!

My name is Hope, I turned 34 on the 8th of October, and I am proud to say that this year on my birthday I was 163lbs lighter than last year! Last year, the final decision for me to have the surgery was when I was told I needed a CPAP machine for the REST of my life at that time I just turned 33. So naturally, I had my surgery on 12/22/05 at that time I was 402lbs, as of 10/13/06 I was 253lbs. My goal by 12/22/06 is to be 200lbs exactly I would be happy if weight continued to come off, but the goal for my 1year is 200lbs which means I would have lost a total of 202lbs. That is a MOUTHFUL! <-no pun intended :)

I will put up new pictures shortly!

Thanks for stopping by if anyone has any questions for me at all please feel free to email me@ [email protected]

This is my take on GASTRIC BYPASS + & -

Surgery Plus

. Feel better

. Different outlook on life

. Different outlook on yourself

. More healthy

. More energy

. Better attitude towards doing things

. Less sluggish

. Less lazy

. Sometimes more positive with everything

. Little to no pain from excessive weight

. Look better (most cases)

. Have time for other things besides eating

. Food is not the thought for the day (meaning not thinking about what’s for dinner, lunch, etc)

. Less agony about people looking and making fun of you

. Willing to go out in public more

. Way better self-esteem (if it was low)

. Not worried if you will be passed up for something because of your size (many companies are hesitant about hiring people due to weight, will not say it but it happens)

. Better diet

. More health conscience for yourself and those around you

. Could have possibly increased your life expectancy by 10+ years (w/losing the extra person)

. Have new REAL friends not food as your friend

. You have no appetite – so you are not thinking about food you can focus on those new clothes!

. You will feel full quickly – it’s ok stop eating

Surgery Negative

. May go through depression (if food was your friend)

. May experience some discomfort or complications if you are getting use to your new stomach

. Not really a negative: but if you get sick no more over the counter meds!

. If you eat too much you will throw up

. If you drink too much you will throw up

. If you eat something you should not it will come out of your body one way or the other

. If you fail to eat how you should or follow directions you may or can gain your weight back

. If you fail to eat how you should or follow directions you may cause damage to your pouch – you may need to have another gastric bypass if you get an ulcer this would be by not eating properly

. You will go through stages where you want to eat something someone is having, but you can’t (it does pass)

. If you feel full and continue to eat there will be consequences and repercussions…lol

Overall, surgery is not for everyone, everyone’s body reacts differently. It is true some people do not lose weight it does not work for them, but that is because they did not follow proper procedure.
