Pre-Op Update
May 22, 2007
Ok so I have not written in a while but I thought I would update so there is an account of this adventure of mine :) I am in the process of completing my surgeon's and insurance company's pre-op requirements. So far I have passed everything with flying colors: pulmonologist, venous doppler, EGD, blood work, psychologist, etc. I just have to do the cardiologist in June. I am also in the process of completing the 6 month physician supervised weight loss program. I started that in February and my last appointment is August 1 at 8AM so when that is done I can submit for approval. I am HOPING to have the surgery in the middle of August if all goes well :)
I need to get to work on the diet thing, I am just not motivated to diet since they do not work for me. I did set a goal to loose 20 pounds before surgery so I need to get crackin. I am down about 4 pounds.
Overwhelmed!!!!
Feb 18, 2007
Ok I just joined this site today! I am in the beginning stages of looking for a surgeon. I actually have an information session tonight with Dr. Michael Bono in Hazelton Pa. I am also going to check out Hershey Med Center tomorrow morning.
I am upset about this entire insurance thing!!! After doing a lot of research and talking to my friend who is having a VSG next month I think I would prefer to have a VSG (vertical Sleeve) I am concerned about the malabsorption issues and not to mention re-routing what mother nature developed with the RNY. However, my insurance will only pay for a RNY. I do know several peopel that have had the RNY with overall good results but some had to have the opening to the stomach dialated, etc.
The main reason I am doing this is for health reasons. I have PCOS, high blood pressure and I am only 31!!!!!!! I have been overweight my entire life!!!!!! UUUGGGGHHHHH I think this is what I want to do but boy is this scary!!!!!!
