I've just completed all the testing my surgeon requires for duodenal switch surgery and am waiting to hear from my insurance company.
As of today, 2/26 I'm authorized and have a surgery date!!! March 24th 2005 at USC Hospital! That's almost exactly a month from now. See my blog for more information! Today is 3/7/05. My surgery is in 17 days. Already time is going fast and I'm starting to think about all the things I need to do before I go in for my switch. I've got an appointment for 21 March to deal with all the pre-surgery stuff at the hospital. Warning! They want me there at 7:30 AM. Yikes!
My surgery went great and I had a very easy recovery. As of my 3 week appointment, I'm down 27 pounds!
6/2/05 -- I'm just a little over two months out now and have lost almost 50 lbs! I can walk 3 miles at a time and feel great. :)
7/1/05 -- I'm just over 3 months out and have lost 70 pounds. My next appointment with Dr. Kaufman is on July 11th.
7/11/05 -- My appointment was great. Dr. Kaufman was totally supportive and said my weight loss is right on track. He set a goal of 170 for me. I'd like to try for 150, but 170 sounds pretty good. :)
8/1/05 -- I'm just out from 4 months now and have lost 83 pounds. It's coming off a little slower now, but it's still coming off. And I still feel totally fantastic. This is the best thing I've ever done for myself.
12/9/05 -- I'm still losing steadily -- as of today I've lost 135 pounds since surgery. I work out 3-5 times a week and walk every day. I feel so much better I can hardly find the words to describe it. Oh and my 6 month labs were perfect!
1/13/06 -- as of today I've lost 150 pounds since surgery and 160 since my high weight. For comparison sake, here's a picture of me on my wedding day (December 29, 2004) a few months before my surgery.
And here's another done today -- same dress, less me.
02/10/06 Today I weighed in at 198.8! I'm in Onderland! :-) 05/01/06 At 181 I'm less than half the woman I used to be. I've lost 186 pounds from my highest weight.
