WLS was a subject I had reviewed seriously approximately two years ago in 2005. I did not become serious until 2007. After earning my MBA and in the midst of a career change, I decided it was finally time for a life change. After recently learning I had become a boderline diabetic (high sugar level), hypertension, and high cholesterol, I knew it was definitely time. In addition my weight had mushroomed to well over 300lbs and was becoming more of a hindrance daily. I remained in denial about my size because a person with a large bone frame you can hide the weight easier, yes even at 5'6". However, living amongst everyone else where size matters, chairs, turnstiles, etc., I recognized I could not comfortably or easily fit anymore. I am very glad I choose to go forward with the surgery. I am most happy that my family whom I expected to flip out as most do, did not. They are so supportive. I was shocked at their intial reaction of acceptance. I realize they love me and were just waiting for me to recognize my own destruction. Will I miss food? No. I was thinner previously up until my 30's, then a lack of exercise and complacent attitude took over. I didn't realize until my wedding almost two years ago. Although I was a beautiful bride, I still wished I had dropped more weight. However after our wedding, I have gained much more than I ever have in my entire life. Too comfortable of a lifestyle and yes good love of a good relationship & bliss with your partner can do that. So now we're on the road to recovery and a better lifestyle overall. I cannot wait to get the weight off permanently! I'm so looking forward to rock climbing, learning to use inline skates, walking great distances without tiring, shopping and being able to wear a size 10 or 12 again, and buying a 2pc bathing suit once again......I'm reclaiming my life! 40 is the new 20, so I'm ready to be 20 all over again! LOL!!!
