New Update
May 03, 2009
Well, I went back Friday for my one month post op. I had only lost 4 lbs in 2 weeks, but in those same 2 weeks I had dropped 91/2 lbs of fat. WOO HOO! I am not in a smaller pant size so that goal is complete. I am doing pretty good eating and have only had 2 episodes where food seemed not to want to go do, but no vomiting with that. I get to go back to work tomorrow and can hardly wait. Being at home for a month has about driven me over the edge. Even with the Governor taking part of my salary, I am thankful I have a job and look forward to talking to everyone.
Till later,

Update
Apr 24, 2009
Went for my 2 week post op Friday April 17. Had lost 19 pounds since March 18. WOO HOO I was happy. They told me I was not getting enough calories in so I have been working on that this week. Have been keeping track to that and doing much better. Started going to fitness center again and walking on treadmill. I made it 25 minutes this morning. That was a little tough with the g-tube still in place, but think I can maintain that time for a couple days and then will see what 30 minutes does. Really ready to see this weight start falling off and know exercise will help.
Have had to episode this week that I believe came close to the dumping syndrome. One I know I ate too fast, the other I am not sure what caused it. Anyway. Never got sick, just had very severe chest pains for a while. Still learning and trying not to do those things again. Have gotten into a pretty good eating routine but know that will be a little more difficult when I go back to work, so to keep me on schedule I have bought an e-pill pager that allows up to 12 different alerts a day that I can set for my shift work to remind myself when it is time to stop drinking before I eat, when to eat and when I can start drinking again. This will definitely help when I go back on evenings and midnights since I have not been used to those time yet.
Tried on my work pants today and can tell a difference in the way they fit. The are quite a bit looser than they were a month ago. Lots of people are telling me they can tell I have lost weight, but I am not seeing yet. Trying those pants on was just proof that I am at least loosing inches if nothing else.
I am very pleased with how well I have done the past 3 weeks and know that with my support I will continue to do well. Hope all who read this and have had the surgery are doing as well as I am and anyone looking at having surgery will read this and see it is not a hard thing to do and not to be scared. Oh you will be nervous, that is natural, but it will be well worth the life style change to improve your health.
Until next time

New at this!
Apr 12, 2009
Okay everyone. I am going to try to incorporate a time each day or so to update this. Still learning about this site. I had my surgery on April 2. I came home from the hospital on Sunday April 5. I am doing great. I am on pureed food and very thankful for that. We cook for the family and I just puree me a little of the meat and veggies and I am good to go. I also have at least one protein shake a day. I feel really good, just do not know how fast I should expect the weight to drop off. I am trying to walk a couple of times a day, but sometimes these tubes just hurt a little to much for that. I have a drainaget tube to my new stomach to ensure there are no leaks and a G-Tube (feeding tube) to the old stomach to ensure I am getting all the nutrients that I need. I do not use my G-Tube much at all. It makes me feel really bloated and bad. I have been very proud of myself and the way my body and mind are adjusting to this new life. I have not yet wanted something that I could not have or anything that I normally would have eaten because it was around. I really feel great and will try to continue to keep everyone updated. I am getting out and about as I can with my husband and children. Went to my youngest daughter's ballgame the other day. That was not bad, just ended up very tired, but I slept well that night. I went to the grocery store another day, even thought I used the motorized wheelchair in there. Have been to visit some of my co-workers also. Doing pretty good if I must say so myself. Well, time to get ready to spend time with the family. More to come.
