Second Appointment & Echocardiogram
Jun 19, 2008
This has been a crazy week I been in and out of BIDMC three times this week. Tuesday was for my second appointment. Had the pulmonary function test(PFT), Abdominal & Gallbladder ultrasound and I also spoke with the nutrionist and also got the exercise regimen. I was told I had Helicobacter Pylori it's a type of bacteria that causes peptic ulcers. I am now on two weeks of antibiotics and also a heart burn medication. I also need to receive B12 shots monthly. A few more medications but for the best of it all.
I go back to BIDMC for my echocardiogram and I am nervous.I am handling things day by day and step by step.It gets scary but to know my health will just be that much better soon will make all this worth every needle every appointment and every situation that has come my way.
Wednesday I went for my echocardiogram and the technician stated my heart rate was very rapid. She told me to lay back and relax.I closed my eyes and took several breathes in and out she waited about five minutes and then she started clicking the pictures of my heart. She was very personable she made me feel comfortable and we conversed throughtout my session. She made me feel at ease and I believe thats where my heart rate settled down.
Thursday I went to my doctors office and he gave me the prescription and also started my B12 shot today. I was nervous about it but it's a reg shot and it doesn't hurt.I am starting to feel that things will get better day by day and I look forward to each day now that my situation is getting under control.
I needed to walk to get to my appointment go get my prescriptions and also meet my mother at her work for a ride home.I finally was up more than 10 minutes and I had approximately 6000 steps.I have never been so happy it made me feel good.I am trying my best to do what needs to be done and I am pushing myself hard.I feel if I don't take that initiative then who else will this is my life and I need to make sure I handle it properly.I feel Blessed that I had a good day today because I have had so many bad ones.I pray that they stay good and only get better.
Scared

Went to the information seminar tonight and when I got there the medical associate recognized me right away. She said we need to do an echocardiogram.Well last year I did an echocardiogram with my old doctor and she said everything was fine.Low and behold everytime she said I was fine is now coming up with my new doctor not to be fine. They re-evaluated all the tests I have done and Dr. H over at BIDMC when I was there for my first appointment stated I had a rapid heart rate. He asked me if it was because of the white coat I stated " No Sir" and we kept on talking. At the end he asked for me to have all the tests I had done faxed to him.My doctor now has forwarded them.I am scared wondering what is wrong with me.I have my second appointment june 17th and they stated they may be able to fit me in there but I already have four appointments going as it is so I don't know but I want this done otherwise it will drive me crazy. There is so much that can be doing this but I just want answers thats all.If this was handled last year when I was with my old doctor all of this wouldn't be happening now.I should have received my c-pap machione last year as well but oh no she said my sleep test was fine.I am thankful I had a change of insurance now. The doctors I have now are amazing and I finally feel like things will start getting back to normal for me.
Started Process @ BIDMC
Jun 09, 2008
I started my journey today my pre-op for surgery. Had an EKG did blood work and also spoke with Dr. H he is Chief Surgeon. This is going to be a process and one I am thankful to be able to go through.
June 17th will be my second appointment will go through some more tests Abdominal/Gallbladder ultrasound, Pulmonary Function Test(PFTs) , Psychological Visit, & also a two hour nutrionist session. They say my process with all tests should take anywhere from 2-3 months with them. Then I will need to go through another 3- 6 months because of my insurance.I am hoping where I have a c-pap machine, adult asthma, edema & also weight gain due to medication & water retention they will only make me wait the three months.I would seriously like to start the new year off very happy and also active.
I can go through all of this and yet my insurance at the end can still deny me.So I will be hoping they will agree I can have the surgery.
