I am 34, have a wonderful and supportive husband, and three beautiful, energetic children. My daughter is 9 and takes dancing three hours a week, my middle son is 10 and plays football and baseball, and my oldest child is 12 and he plays football and baseball as well. I live a very hectic life and have had little time for myself. I teach second grade and absolutely love my job. I have not always had a weight problem. I was big from about fourth grade until about eighth grade. I grew taller in ninth grade and seemed to loose all of my baby fat. I kept the weight at bay thanks to many, many diet pills, no doze, and other things. I gained about 120 pounds when I was pregnant with my 1st child. I lost about 60 pounds, but when he was six months old...I got pregnant again. I only gained about 20 pounds when I was pregnant with him, but when he was six months old...I got pregnant again. This time I added about 30 pounds. I just never lost it and now I am the heaviest I have ever been. I have never been this heavy in all my life. But, I have not let my weight stop me in any way. Prior to me breaking my back, I enjoyed all of the rides at Astroworld, Disney, and all other theme parks. I go everywhere I feel like it and just enjoy life! I hope this surgery will stop the ailments that have been creeping up. I am hoping to remain as active as I can for my children.

7/10/04 I have a date with Dr. Wilson. I am scheduled to have my preop on September 7, 2004 and my surgery on September 15, 2004. I am so surprised to have been approved so quickly. I have a wonderful, knowledgeable PCP who ran almost all of my tests prior to my first appointment with Dr. Wilson. I saw him for the first time in June and he wanted a pulmonary function test and a release from my doctor before setting a date. He also wanted a second sleep study since I found out I have sleep apnea. I have many co-morbidities: diabetes, barrett's esophogus, I am a smoker, low thyroid, I had back surgery on November 18, 2003, PCOS, and the lists goes on...

I decided to go ahead and have the surgery after I took care of my father on Hospice (he was only 61) in March of '03. He died from so many things that could have been avoided if he was not obese. He had conjestive heart failure, polycythemia vera, cardiomyopathy, diabetes, deep vein thrombosis, high blood pressure, skin cancer, PCOD, etc... I decided I would in fact have the same outcome if I do not do something about it now. So, here I am in line to have an RNY.

I am not real good about updating my profile as I am so very busy. I went in for my pre-op appointment today and god did it take long at the hospital! I finally told them I would have to leave before they were done because I had to get both of my boys to football at two different places at the same time. So, they finished what they needed to do and in a total of twenty minutes, I was outta there. Amazing that it took telling them I had to go to get it done. Anyway, I am all set to have my surgery on the 15th. I am very nervous as I am scared I may get sick. I have a sick husband I am trying to avoid as much as possible. Poor thing, this is when I feel I should be avoiding him the least, just in case something should happen. I also am scared because two of my students are in the hospital with ROTO virus. These are my two special students that sit right with me at all times so they actually accomplish something. Go figure they would both get sick so severely and now! Normally, when they are gone I have a party! But since they are so sick, I worry.
Please say a prayer for me as I am so very worried about this surgery. I have researched it, found a wonderful doctor, ordered all my protien and vitamins, had all the tests I could imagine, gotten insurance approval, and researched it some more. But still, I am worrying myself to death. So, please pray for me and my family. Especially my dear children. I pray they will be ok while I am in the hospital and that my husband dresses them nicely while I am gone...LOL...I know I should not worry about this, but he will let them wear t-shirts or whatever to school and I would be so embarrassed. My daughter also had a hard few weeks when I had my back surgery last year and I just want her to continue to do well while I am gone. Don't get me wrong, I have an absolutely marvelous husband! He will take good care of them and me, I am just worried. I will update after my surgery!

Well, I have lost 22 pounds and am happy. I do not really miss the eating part all that much, although I would like to have a great big Whataburger! That was my favorite thing pre-op. I went back to work on September 29th and I did great. I do not have any complaints (knock on wood). Dr. Wilson was wonderful and I feel fine. I really don't feel as though I had anything done except I can not eat like I once did. My surgery went fine and I am going like I never missed a beat. Thank god! I was so lucky and feel very fortunate to have come out of this so well. I will update later as I am busy, busy, busy.

Well, I have finally moved to the clothes I had grown out of after my back surgery. I could not be more pleased. I have lost a total of 27 pounds in three weeks. I am finding it hard to get all of my fluids in. There just does not seem to be enough hours in the day. I am also having a hard time taking my gallbladder medication. It is absolutely nasty and the aftertaste is even more nasty. I keep trying. Today I ate Cod that was pureed. Big mistake! I did puke it up but it only lasted until it was out of my stomach. I felt fine after it was gone. I am looking forward to celebrating my birthday next week, but have asked my husband to hold off on a present until I am ready to purchase new clothes. I think I may spend it in a casino! I always have so much fun! Can't wait!

WOW! I am down 52 pounds as of this morning. I am calling my doctor today as I have horrible burning pain in my right thigh. Some have said it could be a blood clot and I am starting to worry. This pain started about two months ago and my doctor said it was the way I was positioned during the surgery. The pain has gotten out of control so I am finally asking my PCP for a referral for a veinogram. Hopefully this will ease my mind. I really do not think it is a blood clot, but rather a nerve from my back. It is so bad. The pain is incredible.
Anyway, I am finally wearing a size 18 pants. It's really weird because I can still wear some of my old 22's. Possibly because they have been washed and dried. I am trying to find someone to give my old clothes to. They are all Ralph Lauren and Tommy and I want them to go to someone who will use and appreciate them.
I have been very lucky and have only gotten sick three or four times. I do not know if I dump as I have not tried anything off of my doctor's list. Have a great Thanksgiving!

I have lost quite a bit more weight than I thought I would have by now. I weigh 222 pounds and am wearing a 16 and 18. I never thought this would be possible. I got a beautiful, grade A wedding band and diamond for christmas from my husband since my ring was too big. I have gone from a size 10 to a size 7. I am super excited about all of this and am finding that not eating like a pig is o.k. I also got a Gazelle and plan on using it daily for exercise. My skin has tightened up so far. Knock on wood. In the store yesterday, I saw some old friends. The gentleman did not even recognize me and his wife was so excited that I had lost so much weight. I hope my weight loss continues. I know I will do all I can to keep doing well. I am so thankful that I haven't had complications and that my leg is finally getting better. I wish you all the best and have a wonderful new year!

I am finally updating as I have not had access on the inernet in a few weeks. I finally decided to buy a new computer and a new lap top. I also changed service providers since I kept geting viruses. So now that I finally can take my laptop with me maybe I will update more often. I went to a clothing exchange last night and met some really wonderful people from the boards. I have also decided to be John K.'s angel. I hope I can be the kind of angel he deserves. Well, I am actually wearing a 14 and still some 16's! Can you believe it? I am really enjoying buying new clothes and can't wait to loose even more. The most exciting part is that I am diabetes free and all my other ailments are going away. That is the most exciting thing and my main reason for having this surgery. I will update again soon! I wish you the best!

I HAVE NOW LOST 100 POUNDS! It is so exciting! I just wanted to add that to my profile.

4/18/05
I have now lost a total of 115 pounds since surgery. I am wearing a size 12 and do not have any of the medical problems I did. I am very excited to be having a "photo shoot" on Friday the 22nd to help the bariatric center at Memorial-Hermann Hospital. It will be exciting to see my pictures. I am a little nervous as I do not want people to see me and say, "you used to be that really fat lady!" "WOW!" But, I figure if it helps someone else get the same thing I did by such a wonderful doctor, it will all be worth it. I must say, I look and feel great! I don't think I look like I used to be real big. That was one of my main worries about loosing the weight. It feels so good to have an almost NORMAL BMI. What a great feeling. I still feel big, though. I think that doing this photo shoot will help me see what I really do look like. Have a great April and I will try to update soon.

It has been sometime since my last update as I am going on with life! I had a lower body lift, lipo on my inner thighs and arms and all of my stretched skin removed on July 8, 2005 and look awesome! I used Dr. Lomanaco and could not be happier with the results. I have now lost a total of 141 pounds and am doing my best to keep from loosing anymore weight. I am also finally wearing a size 9 or 10. It is great and I must say I look absolutely fabulous!!!!!!!!!!

WOW! So much has happened since my last update. My body lift looks great and I must say I look pretty good. I am now wearing a size 6-8 and am weighing in at 148. I recently had an internal hernia and Dr. Scrarborough fixed it since Dr. Wilson was out of town. It was completely unrelated to my gastric bypass. It was a fluke thing that was the most painful thing I have ever experienced. I have so much more confidence now and am so happy with my new body and look. It has been so much fun shopping for my new clothing and actually being able to wear things off the rack and not worry about how they will fit. This has been awesome! I can not say enough about Dr. Wilson, Connie, and Dr. Scarborough. If you are looking for a worry free surgery then they are definitely the people to do it. Gotta go...I have second graders running all over while I am typing. Have a great day!

I am finally finished with my full body makeover. On December 16, 2005, I had a boob job, my inner thigh lift, and the extra skin from my arms removed. It is not as painful as the other plastic surgery I had, but still bad. I have also shrunk 21/2 inches since all of this began a year and a half ago. I started at 5'8" and 305 pounds and now I only weigh 141 and am 5'6" tall. I had a bone density scan and am waiting on the results. I feel wonderful and can not say enough about Dr. Lomonaco. He has really outdone himself with me. I do look great (especially compared to what I used to look like a year ago). I am really happy and feel more like I did prior to kids and am loving wearing all the clothes and sleeveless outfits without being self contious. Have a wonderful day and I will update soon.

Well, I have gotten up the nerve to put pics on my profile. I have now lost a total of 160 pounds and feel great. I guess I just feel like the camera adds so much weight to me...I am wearing a size 4/6 and am so thankful for all this surgery has done for me. I really do thank John in Katy for putting my pictures up on here. I just completed another round of plastics two weeks ago and am waiting on the boobs to settle. The picture in the jeans was taken today and the other pictures were taken about three weeks ago. I do feel great and can't wait to go on my summer adventures. I will be going on a cruise in May and Florida in June and July. Thank you all on this site for all of your support.

I have not been on the board since my last update as I am so busy.  I have since moved to Junior High and am loving it.  I am now around 136 pounds and have been there for some time now.  I actualy have taken my measurements and am a perfect 36/26/36!  Thanks to Dr. L.  I need to get John in Katy to add some updated photos.  He has been wonderful about doing that.  I am going in on Thursday to have new implants put in since one of them got messed up because I did not quit smoking.  So, if you are planning to have plastics and you smoke, I would quit!  My insurance is actually paying for this one.  What a shock.  I just did not accept no for an answer.  I am so tired after being at the Katy Tiger football game tonight after it was rain delayed until 10 o'clock and I just got home around 1:22 a.m.  They won and will again be going to the playoffs and hopefully another chance at the state title.  It is such a wonderful program and has done wonders for my son.  My second son should be playing Katy football in another year and we are so excited.  I have never enjoyed high school football so much!  It is always a sell out.  Have a great day and I will update soon.

    Surgeon:
    Erik Wilson, M.D.
7/25/04 I have changed surgeons as Dr. Glorsky was not an approved provider on my insurance plan (thank God! All things happen for a reason). I have found a much greater surgeon, Erik Wilson. I went in for my appointment and was very happy with him! He answered all of my questions and was very personable. Dr. Wilson is easy to talk to and seemed to understand the trials fat people go through. He did order more tests to be sure I was able to withstand the surgery (something I appreciated even though it did delay my date, but at least I know where I stand before entering the operating room)and was open and honest in answering all of my many questions. I felt that Dr. Wilson was forthcoming with all the information I requested and he looked great, too! Dr. Wilson is a very knowledgeable surgeon and I feel I have made the right choice in selecting him as my surgeon. The only thing that could have been improved was the wait to see him. But, then again, great things are worth waiting for!

They approved my surgery in three or four days no questions asked. My doctor simply wrote a letter and it was approved.
