My name is Kenisha Barber and I'm 29 years old. I work for a major communication company. I have been married to a wonderful husband for the last 6 and half years and I have two beautiful children. I have been overweight for the last 9 years since the birth of the kids. I have been in transition for Gastric Bypass surgery for the last two months. My insurance company requires me to have 6 months for medical neccessarity before I'm considered for the surgery.
I joined ObesityHelp to get support from peers that is going though and/or have complete the process.
My Journal:
January 4th 2008: Today I'm just trying to catch up with my transition for Gastric Bypass Surgery. Currently I have been assigned a surgeon at Vanderbilt Medical Center, one of the best hospitals in the South. I have already been to psychologist, whom as approved my ability to undergo the surgery. I have to continue to go the my Primary Dr. for my monthly check-ups for insurance purposes for the next 4 months. My next major step is to found a support group and get an appointment with a Dietitian.
****UPDATED**** Sunday, March 20
Within the last 6 months I have restarted my process to undergo Gastric Bypass Surgery. After two unsuccessful pregnancies, am moving forward. Am ready for a fresh and healthy me. Tomorrow is the BIG day. Am on a FULL Liquid diet til Midnight. Am so excited for a new start. I have a wonderful support group from my family, friend, sorors, and co-workers. Some people I have chosen not to share until a later time. I want to decrease all levels of negative. I will be posting as often as I can on here and my personal blog which I will be updating later.
