I am a forty something mother of two. My weight problem did not start until after I had my kids, I just could not seem to lose and was very good at gaining. I gained 60 pounds with my first pregancy and 70 pounds with my second and then the pounds kept piling on. I am a chronic Weight Watcher's member and have been very sucessful with their program but could never keep the weight off for long.

I made the decision to have lap-band surgery in 2008 after talking to a couple of aquaintences that had it done and were sucessful. The journey has been very eye-opening for me! The visits with the psych. have made me confront the mental and physical abuse that I endured as a chid that I am still reconciling with now as an adult (I thought I was over it but, in reality was not). I realized that while I knew the right things to do to lose weight, I was not dealing with the real reasons why I was eating in the first place.

I am the proud mother of two teenagers and the wife of a firefighter. I am a training consultant for a Fortune 100 company, My job is very visible and while being over weight has not held me back has certainly made me self conscience and doubt my abilties at times.

I am very thankful that my insurance company covered my surgery and has given me the opportunity to regain my health!
