Wow--Almost two months out

Sep 04, 2007

It is hard to believe that it has almost been two months since my surgery date.  I am doing just fine.  to date--9/4/07--I have lost 34 lbs.  I feel great and I am starting to see the results not only on the scale, but in the mirror.  I have done an offical closet cleaning and got rid of two huge bags of clothes to a friend who also had this surgery, but was larger than I was.
This was a great decision for me to have this surgery.  I can hardly wait to drop another size or two--or three or four.

15 days until my new life begins

Jun 24, 2007

Today is June 24, 2007 and my surgery is scheduled for 15 days from now, on July 9.  Dr. McDaniel is the surgeon that will be doing my Roux-en-Y Gastric Bypass.  My sister had this same procedure, done by the same doctor just six days ago.  We are lucky to be on this journey together.  Dr. McDaniel also did one of my best friend's surgery in May 2006.  My friend has done great and looks fabulous.   I can't wait to be a year on the loosers bench!!!!

Today is July 13, 2007.  It has been 4 days since my surgery--on July 9.  Personally, I think I am feeling great.  The worst part is reminding myself to keep drinking!!!!  I fill a container each morning with 64 ounces of water and use that to mix my crytal light, protein drinks, and whatever else I need water for.  So, I know I am at least drinking 64 ounces.  I am still liking boullion and I am not sure how long that will last.  Jello is still good too.  I have a wonderful network of friends and I love them dearly--We really take care of each other.  I had one stay with me in the hospital, so my husband could be at home with the three kids.  My mom is here too, but I really wanted him home with the kids too.  By the way, my friend that stayed with me--I stayed with her in May of 2006 when she has this same procedure.  Starting two days ago, my friends have been bringing dinner to my family and will continue up until the 20th.  Last night was a tough one--fried chicken, fried okra, mashed potatoes and banana pudding.  For a split second, I thought--"Some good friend."  I made the kids plates and I admit, for a split second, I thought about popping one of those fried okras into my mouth.  Then, I remembered my friend who had this surgery walked the fine line and took a bite of a bean burrito within two weeks of having surgery and paid for it dearly.  I made it through the meal, actually sat down at the table and sipped my broth while they ate.  I am not going to lie--it looked good, but I am stronger than that!!!  I went on a liquid diet two days before surgery and lost 5.2 lbs and as of this morning, I have lost another 6.3 lbs for a total of 11.5 lbs lost--whoopie!!!!
I feel good, I am walking daily--first I was doing laps in the house.  Yesterday, I walked at the mall for about 30 minutes and we are off to the mall again today.  I will try for 35 minutes.  I hope all the other loosers--(don't you just love that word?) are doing great as well.
