i am a 58y/o retired/disabled paramedic. i had the intestinal bypass in 1976, lost 140 pounds, became a jogger, and kept the weight off over 20 years. as chronic back pain began to slow me down, i regained all my weight. i had major back surgery in june, 2006 that left me disabled. i have learned my limits, and do well if i stay within them.

i had the lapband surgery with dr zaria murrell in huntsville on june 2, 2009. due to appt cancellations and scheduling conflicts, she was unable to do my 1st adjustment till sept. shortly afterward, she moved to ohio to become a pediatric surgeon, her lifelong dream. she was a wonderful dr and will be hard to replace!

dr murrell said i should easily lose 11-15 pounds a month. but my lack of adjustments has slowed me down considerably. the average is 5-9 in the 1st year. 6 months out, i should be at 66-90 pounds lost. i've only lost 40 pounds. my exercise is greatly limited due to my back problem. it's frustrating.

i am currently looking for another bariatric surgeon to handle my maintainance care. most don't want to adjust another surgeon's work. my family dr has taken up my quest, and i hope to have a new dr, and another adjustment soon.

i would love to hear from anyone who had the lapband. i've had no problems at all, and would encourage anybody to have it done. mine was laproscopic, and i went to the mall on the way home the next day.

i look forward to talking with you on here.
i am the Godlygirl :)
