Well here's my story. I started asking for WLS from my PCP at Kaiser probably the end of 2005. All I kept getting was I was healthy and just overweight. You know the routine, eat less, exercise more. Then in the beginning of 2006, I switched PCPs and the first time I met her I asked for a referral. April 7, 2006 I was approved!! I have been to orientations and all other appointments necessary. The only way to get to the next step is to lose 10% of my weight. Well back in August when I was given this instrucion I weighed 273. So my next appointment won't be until I have gotten down to 258 and surgery won't be until I reach at least 248lbs. Yes I lagged around all these months and made it my new years resolution to get this journey of mine moving.
Two Setbacks
1. Since I got off track I gained a few more pounds and started the new year at 279.
2. Another prerequisite is that I quit smoking for at least three months prior to surgery.
I have starting working on my setbacks already. I want this surgery. I joined Weight Watchers and have lost 9.4 lbs so far. I weigh in every Saturday morning. I have also cut down drastically the amount of cigarettes I smoke. I smoke maybe 3-4 cigs a day, before it was half a pack. I have set Valentine's Day as my official "quit day". What a better day to regain my heart!
