My story is similar to so many others. I've tried everything to lose weight. In 2007 I had lapband surgery, it didn't work for me. I've failed at surgery! How is that possible? For months I was depressed and felt hopeless. Then I decided to go through with my original plan, which was; to have the DS with Dr Oakley. When I tried back in 2007 they didn't have a "Center of Excellence" here in Boise, so insted of waiting I went to Portland and had lapband surgery, my mistake
.
On 05/19/09  I had the lapband removed and have my DS scheduled for July 20th (my birthday).
I'm determined to make this work, but I'm scared also.

Well, I've finally forced my self to sit down and update my story. I had my DS and have had no real issues. I wish I could have had the laproscopic version, but because of scar tissue from Lapband it wasn't an option. I'm really happy that I had the DS, it's worked very well for me. I'm 7 months out now and have lost a total of 91#! I truely am amazed at how different I feel. It's easier to do almost everything. I no longer have to take my diabetes meds, but I'm still taking BP meds and I still suffer from fibromyalgia, which seems to actually be getting worse because of the amount of exercise I do now. I'm getting stronger and I feel so much better about myself. It's also wonderful to buy NORMAL sized clothes again.
