Wow, It's Dusty In Here

Mar 31, 2008

I have not been a very good poster. I'm going to get better, though. It's been 8 months since my surgery and so far I've lost 120 pounds and my BMI has dropped about 14 points. I am doing really well. I did have to have my gallbladder taken out in January but they told me that would probably happen. I'm so thankful for all the messages and emails showing support that I've been getting. Unfortunately, I have been really busy lately and I've gotten out of the my work out routine but I'm trying to get back into the swing of it. I don't think I like how my weight loss slows down when I don't exercise regularly.
Anyway, I hope everyone who is reading this is doing well. I look forward to hearing from you if you have a chance to drop a note.

First Post Surgical Post

Aug 01, 2007

Surgery was laproscopic and almost 3 hours. Everything went very well. Dr Bilton actually said it was better than he'd expected. I was in the hospital thurs-monday. I would have come home sunday but i had some nausea and didn't get in any fluids til that afternoon so they put my iv back in and kept me an extra day. I go for my one week follow up tomorrow. I'm anxious to see how much weight i've lost, if any. I don't feel any lighter. I still feel bloated and swollen from surgery. My stomach looks so funny.
Anyway, I'm going great. Thanks so much to everyone for the prayers, emails, and notes of encouragement!

Wow!

Jul 24, 2007

I have had so many emails and messages from people who don't even know me giving me support. Thank you all so much. It really does mean so much to me. It's nice to be in a place where people have walked in your footsteps and truly do know how you feel.

Less than two days and I'll be on the losers bench.

I can't wait.

Thank you all so much again!

I Have A Date!!!!

Jul 19, 2007

My surgery is going to be Thursday July 26th. Less than a week away!! I am so excited. I've waited so long to get here. I've been ready since February but the h pylori and gastritis held me back until now. Everything is so great right now. I can't wait to join everyone on the losing side!

Thanks for all the notes of encouragement, prayers, and emails.

Wow, It's Been A Long Time!

Jul 18, 2007

Here's what's been going on. I was on a PrevPack for 2 weeks after my last blog. I have been on Prevacid since and will be on it forever. Dr Bilton scoped me again and took more biopsies on Monday July 9th. On Monday the 16th I found out that all my tests were negative! No more H Pylori, no gastritis, no ileitis, no duodenitis.... my stomach looks so much better and surgery is a go! i'm seeing him tomorrow to set a date!! I'm hoping for next week. Thanks so much for the thoughts, emails, and prayers!!!

Everything Happens For A Reason

Apr 22, 2007

I am beginning the 4th day of my 14 day treatment for H Pylori. My stomach is really bad. I need to get more broccoli tomorrow. IF I haven't mentioned it already there is a chemical in broccoli called sulforaphane (sp) that helps eradicate H Pylori that has been resistent to medication. My spirits are up from a few days ago so that's good. I just have to keep my eyes on the prize.

At Least Six Weeks

H Pylori again. PrevPack.

Severe gastritis among other things.

Down in the dumps.

Update

Apr 18, 2007

I haven't been around in a few days. I've been in the hospital. I had an ovarian cyst rupture Sunday night. I am back to work and feeling much better. Unfortunately, I didn't get to have surgery today due to H Pylori taking up residence in my tummy. We are working on that. Thanks so much to everyone for all the messages and well wishes. I meet with my surgeon tomorrow so I should know something more tomorrow. Please keep me in your thoughts and prayers. Everyone here is so amazing and I'm a better person for knowing you all.

One More Bump In The Road

Apr 09, 2007

Well, my surgery may be pushed back a few weeks. I tested positive for H Pylori... again. I went through the 2 week treatment earlier this year and apparently it didn't work. I'm going Thursday to have an upper GI scope so my doctor can look around and see if there is an ulcer or something going on. I cried all afternoon when I found out I was still positive. It really got me down. I mean I'm 8 days away from my surgery date. It really got me discouraged. Besides that if my surgery date changes I'm not the only one who would be affected. My Mom and my best friend both took off work and now they may have to switch days around and could possibly be unable to take off when the new surgery date is set. I'm just in the dumps.

Kacey is not a happy camper today.

I did learn that there is a chemical in broccoli called sulforaphane that kills h pylori. Even when the bactirium are inside or outside the stomach lining cells and even if the strain is resistant to commonly used antibiotics. So, my Mom stopped on her way home and got some fresh broccoli and I'm going to go to another grocery store on my way home and get some more. I'm going to be one broccoli eating machine over the next few days/weeks. Maybe it will work.

Keep your fingers crossed for me!

GREENFIELD FILTER

Apr 05, 2007

Well, I go for my Greenfield IVC Filter at 07:30. I have about 5 hours. I'm really nervous for some reason. I'm hoping that the Versed and Valium they will give me will help me not care. I'm sure it will! Anyway, if anyone reads this please keep me in your thoughts/prayers.
