OK - Here is my story as well as I can remember it.  First of all - do not ever say - I will not ever have WLS.  I made that comment and then within one year thought about it.  I mentioned it to my daughters and they were for it.  I went to my Primary Doctor and he said - Go for it - So here it is Nov 2005 and I have any appointment with MMPC in GR to attend the orientation.  My daughter Patti went with me and we were very happy with it and I made my appointments for December 2005.

Had my first appointment to start the ball rolling - Then had my time with the behaviorist and the internist.  Everything went well.  I already had had my sleep study so had to have the endoscopy - found out I had Barrett's Esophagus - put me on Prilosec - no more TUMS for me!!  And the colonostopy the same day (Prep was so much fun!!) - that came out fine.  Had all my lab tests and thought I was well on my way.  "Thought" is the word here.  I had not had a mammogram in awhile so I made an appointment just to get it done - Well- I had a suspicious spot, had to have it re-done and an ultra-sound.  This held up the scheduling of my WLS.  Well the suspicious spot was still there so off to see another surgeon.  She was great, scheduled me to have it removed and Praise God - it was OK.

SO now - having the surgery during spring break was out - so now finally got everything cleared and they scheduled it for May 15th.

May 1st

Had to meet with the dietician and go on the pre-surgery liquid diet for 2 weeks.  My weight at this appointment was 262.

May 8th - lost 5 lbs - surgery a go for next week

May 15th - D DAY - Sorta scared but everything went fine.  Dr Baker also had to repair a hernia at the same time.  Went home the next day and felt 9 months pregnant.  I was so bloated!

July 12, 2006 - WOW  8 weeks has passed and I am down 40 lbs/  GREAT!  I just got rid of all my 2X clothes and my 22/24's.  My husband actually had the nerve to ask if I shouldn't save them in case I needed them again.  THE NERVE!!   I WILL NEVER NEED THEM.

July 30, 2006 - ANOTHER 8 LBS GONE FOREVER>  I feel so good.  Except my pouch has a new name - Mr. Grouchy Pouch.  I never know what kind of mood he is going to be in.  Alot of foamies and upchucking but I will make it.  I went to Vegas to visit my sister for 9 days and lost 4 lbs.  Now if I could just get in the habit of exercising.  I have a recumbant bike in my living room!!  I did swim in Vegas and walked and did the treadmill.  I tried the eliptical machine but 5 minutes killed me - maybe next time.

August 17th - THREE MONTH CHECK UP TODAY - 57 lbs gone forever!!  Labs are all fine!!  PRAISE THE LORD!  I even get to have a diet coke now once in awhile.  Exercise still is not my best friend and it needs to be/  After the Doctor's visit, I went up tp the hospital to see Cheryl, who just had her surgery yesterday.  What a sweetheart she is.  Thank you God for bringing her into my life.  I think we will be good for each other during this journey.

October 23rd - I have been bad!!!  I am down 74 lbs but I can eat almost anything I want.  Not much of it BUT chocolate does not bother me!!   No Bake cookies are tasting too good!!  Need to get back to the basics.  Protein and Water.

November 17th - OK  I am still being BAD!!!!  I am down 77 lbs and this is great BUT - I still eat anything I want and this is BAD!!!   I have not been tracking my food and water like I was on Spark People and need to get back to this AND I need to ride that recumbant bike that is sitting in my living room.  I know IF I just get back to the "rules" - I will loose a bunch more!!   Let's see - OK - December 17th is my family Christmas and I have not seen some of my family since this summer so I want to have 10 more lbs off - I CAN DO IT and I WILL DO IT!!

January 10, 2007 - Well, it is a new year.  I am the lowest weight I have been in MANY MANY years.  So far I have lost 90 lbs.  Christmas came and went and I am still losing little by little.  I still am not doing great on the exercise BUT I am trying.  I went to Florida and swam 2 times and walked the beach twice.  Did fine eating, got my water all in and came home 3 lbs lighter.  Getting lots of comments (good ones).  I also went clothes shopping for the first time.  WOW!  to not have to buy Plus sizes!!!!!!  My next goal is to be in the 160's by the end of the month!  I CAN DO IT!!!!
