I am a 47 year old wife and mother of 2 great children. My family is very supportive of my decision. I have been battling weight loss for over 18 years. Losing 20 or 30 pounds gaining 40 to 60 pounds back. Two years ago a friend of mine had Lap band surgery. So for 2 years I have been considering the surgery. January 2007 I made the decision that I know will change my life for the better. I decided to have WLS, I attended a all day seminar at my selected providers office, with the expectation that I would have to the required testing and then be scheduled for surgery. Well I was very surprised when I found out that my insurance company required 6 months of medical observation. Initially I was very upset, but I have been this heavy for this long 6 more months was not going to kill me. So I scheduled the required testing over the next 6 months. On July 30, I had my appointment with the surgeon, he gave me a surgery date of 8/22. 
I was in and out in a matter of 8 hours. No pain but a lot of gas, for about 5 days.
9/17/07 The first week after surgery I was questing my sanity. On Wednesday I will be 4 weeks out. Feeling really good. Energy level is back no pain no discomfort. So far only down about 23 lbs, but feeling very good. Some of my clothes are just the least bit baggy, I can't wait to have a reason to go shopping. No looking back.
