My surgery is scheduled for March 21st. I start my 4 week fast this Wednesday, which will continue up to the big day. This is such a relief as I'm having a terrible time staying in line with food. Now I don't have to go to the store at all and won't be tempted. I have an appointment with someone at MMPC every Wednesday now until surgery. So it really is starting. 

I recieved a call this week from MMPC (Michigan Medical) confirming that I've been approved for the VSG. I've been on cloud nine ever since.

Next week I start a 6 week fast with optifast.

I'm so excited - finally I have hope that I have a real tool to help me lose weight. It should be a very exciting journey!

Just got a call from my surgeons office. Seems like my procrastination about doing the pee in the cup routine is delaying my surgery. I did my blood labs about a month a half ago (they took a LOT of blood), and I said was I unable to provide the urinalyisis on the spot because of well........I'm a really big guy. Let's just leave it at that. I'll have to do it at home in a more "spacious" enviroment. So I'll have provide that ASAP, and then I think we'll really start to move forward.

Blue Cross/Blue Shield e-mailed my manager, and said that my case was reviewed and approved. I asked the nurse about this, and she confirmed that they DID receive a letter of authorization 2 days ago! I just hope the VSG was approved and not something else....

Things are really looking up!

Today is January 30th, 2007 - I'm in the no man's land of thinking that my insurance has approved the surgery, but not sure. BC/BS of Michigan e-mailed my boss (HR/Benefits Manager) and told him that I was reviewed and approved, and that I'll be getting a letter shortly confirming that. THAT was almost 2 weeks ago, and no letter and no call from my surgeons office yet. Did they approve the VSG?
