2 years post op

Apr 24, 2010

Wow, what a journey. I never in my wildest dreams could have imagined being where I am right now. Currently I am at  133 Lbs after struggling to gain weight (so WEIRD to say that!) from a low of 127 Lbs. I am currently wearing a size 6 in clothes and depending on the brand, either a small or medium. I know I need to gain some weight, I look like skin and bones but I am really having a hard time with it. I start freaking when I see a couple pounds gained during that time of the month. I know that is just water weight but I am SO afraid of gaining weight back. I don't EVER want to go back to how I was. I really am enjoying seeing that low of a number on the scale and being in single digit sizes. That's not healthy thinking though, I know. That's how anorexics think, and I'm definitely not that but I know I don't ever want to be fat ever again.

But I feel great and my hypoglycemia is pretty well controlled as long as I take the acarbose. The side effects of that are unpleasant....but it works.

I've let my good eating habits slip some, I need to be more vigilant about making better choices and focusing on protein intake. I also need to build up some muscle, I look so scrawny. I wish I could be more motivated to exercise.

Finally some updated measurements!

Oct 17, 2009

Finally got around to getting some measurements!

1yr 6 mos (almost) post op.  130, yes you saw that right, 130 Lbs!

Waist: 29 in
Hips: 34.5 in
Chest : 31 in
L thigh: 17.5 in
L upper arm: 9.25 in..scrawny lol
Wrist: 6 in
Neck: 13.5 in
Wedding ring size went from a 9 to a 6!

On another note, still having tons of hypoglycemia issues. My blood sugar drops all the time, around every couple days at least, sometimes a couple times a day! Now happening in my sleep too. My lowest drop so far was 31. Going to see an endocrinologist 10/19/09. It's likely nesidioblastosis which seems to be becoming a more common occurrence post gastric bypass. That's what my mom was diagnosed with and I'm sure I will be too. I just pray I don't end up experiencing seizures like she did. Scary stuff.

It's been a while!

Sep 05, 2009

I seem to slack off a lot updating here. Well a quick update. I'm now 1yr 4mos post op. I currently weigh 135 Lbs according to my Dr's office scale, 133 Lbs at home. Sounds great and all, but actually it's way too low for me, since I am 5'10". I'm trying to increase my caloric intake since I am breastfeeding I am burning so many calories by that alone it's actually quite difficult to gain weight. It's so weird saying that....wish that had been my problem all along because then I would have never needed this surgery! Anyway I also am having issues with hypoglycemia. The past 2 months I have had about 5 or 6 episodes. I borrowed a glucometer from my mom and recorded blood sugars in the 50's and even a 47. Those of course are not good and I'm terrified because of the hypoglycemia and associated seizures my mom has dealt with since her gastric bypass. I'm so scared of having bad symptoms or God forbid, a seizure when I am alone with my kids or driving or something. Ugh, super scary. I just saw my doctor regarding it and I got my own glucometer and I have to keep an eye on it and increase my protein intake, eat every couple hrs and try to keep from crashing. Also have to go see an endocrinologist.

On another note, I just went shopping for some new jeans and got 4 pairs in a Juniors size 7! Also had to get a dress skirt at Dillards and I had to get a size 4 lol I know that's not right but hey, it's kinda cool to see that number.

Great "wow" moment today

May 27, 2009

Went shopping today to look for a *gasp* bikini! It's just for laying out at home, I won't be wearing it in public ever unless I get a tummy tuck lol. Anyway, I took a couple to the fitting room and the attendant said "wow, you are brave, but I guess I'd try those on if I had a body like you." What???? A body like me? A former almost 300 pounder??? Holy crap!  Needless to say I felt great and I did buy that bikini. Now about that tummy tuck........

1 Year surgiversary!!

Apr 22, 2009

I haven't updated in a really long time and so much has happened! Since my last update I gave birth to my beautiful little surprise baby boy Ayden on March 11, 2009. He was born at 11:01pm at a healthy 8 Lbs 1 oz and 19.75 inches. He is such a sweet little guy and although the baby bootcamp stage is really, really rough, I'm so blessed.

Today, well technically yesterday, was my 1 year anniversary since my surgery. Ironically I also made my goal weight as well. 155 Lbs. Wow. That means in one year I lost 121 Lbs and that's including a pregnancy in the middle of it. It's just incredible. I am so thankful for this great tool I have. I hope to continue my success.

Well, here are my 1 year stats:
Total weight loss since surgery: 121 Lbs
Highest weight ever: 283 Lbs
Surgery weight: 276 Lbs
Today's weight: 155 Lbs.....and GOAL!!!!!!

I am wearing pants in size Juniors 15, but they are big, I could probably go in 12's or Jr's 13

Current measurements:
Waist: 31
Hips: 38.. would be better without all the extra skin
Thigh: 18.5
Upper Arm: 10.75
Neck: 13
Chest: 34
Wrist: 6.25

5 months!!

Sep 22, 2008

Well today it has been 5 months since my surgery. It has been such a wild ride. I'm hanging steady right now at 189 Lbs. I received the shock of my life a week ago when I found out I was pregnant unexpectedly. I'm absolutely overjoyed to bring a new baby into the world, but at the same time I worry what effect it will have on my weight loss. Obviously the baby's health comes first and I am sure to take my vitamins and make  healthy food choices. I worry about getting enough for the baby but at the same time not overdoing it. My worst fear is gaining all my weight back. I understand and accept that during my pregnancy I will gain some weight, I hope to keep it at a reasonable, healthy amount. Hopefully after the birth things can get back on track and I can continue on my journey. I'm going to be careful and not indulge in junk food cravings (currently the baby wants Arby's curly fries lol) eat healthy and grow a healthy little baby. I think right now I will put a hold on taking my measurements because of course they will be looking very different in the coming months.

I can't wait to meet our new little one!!!

Surprise of my life

Sep 16, 2008

I am still in a huge state of shock, but I just found out I am pregnant! Even more shocking is that I am 15-16 weeks pregnant. I had no idea. Apparently I lost my Mirena IUD sometime after my surgery and got pregnant shortly thereafter. My mind is spinning so much right now. I am just thrilled, but shocked. This wasn't planned, especially so soon after my surgery. My bloodwork will be checked often, but everything should be ok. It took me so long to get pregnant with my girls, and dealing with 2 miscarriages and infertility related to PCOS I just can wrap my mind around getting pregnant quickly and not even knowing!!!!

4 Months!

Aug 24, 2008

A couple days late.....

But I'm 4 months out, and down 80 Lbs!!!! Wow, I NEVER t hought I'd ever lose 80 Lbs. It's amazing. I still am doing really well, no sickies or problems with food. Sometimes, that's not always a good thing. I haven't eaten as well as I should lately, BAD girl! However, I am now in onederland! 196 Lbs today! I cannot remember the last time I saw my weight start with a number 1. I also am the proud owner of a pair of size 15 JUNIORS SLIM FIT (OMG!!) jeans! Holy crap that is just wild. The only problem I can say I'm  having is

THE HAIR LOSS!!

seriously, I think I need to go wig shopping. I have a bald spot going on on the top of my head by my bangs, NO JOKE! I knew  this would happen, but holy cow my hair looks awful! AAARRRRGGGGGHHH!!!

Measurements coming soon!

2 months!

Jun 22, 2008

I am now 2 month post op! I feel great! I have lost 51 Lbs to date. I forgot to take my measurements today, but I will post them soon. I am so happy I chose this. I feel already that I am getting my life back. I feel so good. Much more energy, and I just feel.....happy. Foods are going well. I can tolerate all meats I have had, beef, steak, chicken, fish (tuna) eggs etc well. The only thing giving me some issues now is vegetables. Hopefully that will get better in time. I am currently fitting comfortably in a size 18. I haven't seen that size in quite a while. Life is good. I have been slacking at going to the gym, but I plan on changing that. I can't wait to see all the changes that are ahead for me!

UPDATE: Ok here are my 2 mo measurements

Waist: 40 in

Hips: 47 in

Chest: 37.75

Left Thigh: 23.5 in

Left upper arm: 14.25 in

Neck: 14.5 in
